Shocking images shame US forces in Iraq
Monday 10 November 2003, 4:38 Makka Time, 1:38 GMT

A series of shocking pictures revealing US soldiers tying up Iraqi women and children in their own home has provoked international outrage.

The occupying forces have now come under renewed fire for their treatment of ordinary Iraqis as shown in the pictures published today by Aljazeera.net.

CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is conducting an investigation and seeking advice before taking further action.

"This kind of image increases resentment of American troops in Iraq and can also play a major part in demoralising troops who are having to tie up small children.

"We are seeking to raise this issue further in the appropriate arena," said Washington CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper.

A spokesman for the London-based Islamic Observation Centre said the pictures showed a "complete disregard for the human rights of the Iraqi people"...

2. I knew it!
One of my best friends is from Iraq. She wrote an article to the university paper about how she called her family in Iraq to wish them a happy Ramadan. Her relatives said that there are American tanks in marketplaces and women and little girls are being kidnapped. As usual the next day there were a few freeper style letters written in the opinion page about how Bush is a hero and how dare my friend make up lies that American soldiers are kidnapping little girls.

I didn't want to believe it of course as I am very patriotic and respect our men and women in uniform.

But the ones responsible deserve a court marshall. Throw them in jail for violating international law.

I still am proud of the men and women who are serving in this unneccesary war. These actions don't represent the military as a whole. But the ones responsible need to pay the price.
