Al-Qaeda 'threat to Saudi royals'

Al-Qaeda is actively seeking to bring down the Saudi ruling royal family, the US Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage, has said.
Osama Bin Laden's organisation has long been a critic of the Saudi Government, regarding it as too pro-American. Mr Armitage also warned of fresh terror attacks to come in the kingdom. He was speaking after holding talks in Saudi Arabia with Crown Prince Abdullah following Saturday's suicide bombing in Riyadh, which killed at least 17. The target was a foreign workers' residential compound close to the homes of several Saudi ministers. More than 120 people were injured, most of them non-Saudi Arab workers and their families. The BBC's Paul Wood, from the scene of the blasts, says the bombers penetrated far into the compound before detonating their explosives.

Mr Armitage, who arrived in Riyadh on Sunday, told reporters: "I can't say that last night's attack was the only or the last attack. "My view is these al Qaeda terrorists - and I believe it was al Qaeda - would prefer to have many such events." And in an interview with the Dubai-based al-Arabiya television channel, he said: "It's quite clear to me that al-Qaeda wants to take down the royal family and the Government of Saudi Arabia."

In a BBC interview, the Saudi ambassador to London, Prince Turki al-Faisal, a former intelligence chief in Riyadh, openly admitted that it would be impossible to prevent such attacks from recurring. Hundreds of people have been arrested by the Saudi authorities over the past six months. Some clerics have begun mediation efforts to try to open talks between the militants and the government. The effort is led by Dr Mohsen al-Awaji, spokesman for an organisation called the Global Anti-Aggression Campaign.

There is anger in Riyadh over the attack on the compound, which killed mainly Arabs and occurred during the holy month of Ramadan. Saudi officials said seven Lebanese, four Egyptians, one Saudi, one Sudanese and four unidentified people had been killed. The dead included five children.

I would have thought that it doesn't take an 'Al-Qaeda' member to bring down the disgusting House of Saud. Plenty of non-extremist, pro-democracy Arabs in the Gulf want to see the end of this despotic dinosaur of a dictatorship which has leeched the country of its vast oil wealth and produced a staggering three million plus unemployed Saudis.

Little did I think when starting to post on the DU sometime earlier in the summer that I'd hit the magic four digits well in time for Armistice Day...I guess pointing the finger at that BFEE hellhole in the Gulf deserves a repetition of one of my favourite rants, namely the disgusting perverted twat that is the UK's ambassador to Riyadh:

and not forgetting his equally appalling 'wife' Bridget: a couple I have known extremely well for over 20 years, whose involvement in BFEE crime scams worldwide has been instrumental in preventing Junior's hideous personal history ever reaching the US or UK media.

While working in London between 1983 and '87, Cowper-Coles was actively involved in speechwriting/spinning for Margaret Thatcher and advised her on how to bury a scandal involving the UK-based covert bastard son of an up and coming US Republican, himself a scion of a top political family that was up to its neck in oil industry chicanery.

This particular bastard's first name is 'Charles' and was the long-term on/off lover of the man who today calls himself the UK's Prince of Wales. He was caught laundering cocaine money that was financing various terrorist activities on the UK mainland and abroad, as well as perpetrating property theft and associated frauds to fund the co-ordination of an international network of spying, infiltration of intelligence organisations, terrorism and political subterfuge worldwide. The purpose of this was to frame witnesses who had previously testified to US Republican financings of unsolved P2 Lodge crimes, particularly the death of 'God's Banker' Roberto Calvi and the collapse of Banco Ambrosiano.

One of his 'covers' had been journalism and his specialised field was Arab finance. Among the various aliases he used was Peter Truell. The personal intervention of Thatcher to cover this up was a Cowper-Coles brainchild: a story was concocted that 'Truell' was secretly employed in doing undercover work for a highly covert part of military intelligence involving a 'sting' operation leading to the unmasking of anti-democracy organisations targeting the West. Thatcher figured she would be unchallenged in naming the witnesses in the Ambrosiano/Calvi scam and this alibi was part of the scam. It just about got him temporarily off the hook but exposed a coterie of rent boys and pimps that regularly serviced the needs of the Prince of Wales. All that evidence is still gagged by a Ministry of Defence 'D' Notice as being potentially harmful to British security.

What swung the situation in Truell's favour was an alibi concocted for him by Cowper-Coles' wife Bridget. She had worked in the same UK-based business publisher specialising in Middle East economics as him and had known him personally and socially for a number of years. Details of the ensuing arrest were buried in special branch paperwork and bureaucracy under numerous 'pending' files after much panic from Thatcher's office.

Cowper-Coles' posting in the UK embassy in Washington DC between '87 and '91 ensured that the gag worked both sides of the pond. But what it failed to guarantee was the beginnings of the investigation into the collapse of failed bank BCCI which Bob Morgenthau closed down in New York. 'Truell' had manipulated corrupt conduits in the BCCI branch banking and subsidiary network to finance terrorism and act as slush funds for bribing officials such as judges, law enforcement officers, political lobby groups and media barons. But this had been exposed when a London-based general manager of BCCI called John Hillbery turned prosecution witness in the UK police investigation in a plea-bargain deal that exposed his own accomplice, a woman estate agent involved in a property-theft/mortgage raising/money laundering scam. Her 'disappearance' in July 1986 was officially treated as a missing person situation while police trawled the BCCI link, and the case today still remains unprosecuted - although hardly under-investigated. Various corroborated witness statements testify that 'Truell' was part of a gang that shot her and hid her body - allegedly in a traditional IRA-type burial ground in London's Irish quarter.

Cowper-Coles rose through the diplomatic ranks. Meanwhile, Truell's persona was further sanitised to the extent that a new ID was concocted for him with a plethora of respectable and distinguished references that secured him a post in the UK's Ministry of Defence. When he was eventually outed from that, he did a runner and was believed to have disappeared into a labyrinthine cover set up for him in the US by his now career-ladder crawling father. What was concealed in the US and UK was Truell's career of cocaine, heroin and alcohol addiction, a series of sex crimes, and specific names of those he had murdered who knew his history and the fact that around 1981 he had fathered a child - a boy - who has subsequently grown up to bear a striking resemblance to a very well-known UK public figure. No need to say anymore at this stage because the UK media is at boiling point right now.

Cowper-Coles has progressed up the ranks and was appointed UK ambassador to Tel Aviv in September 2001, a posting he held until his present job started in September this year. Prior to that he was PPS to UK Foreign Secretary Robin Cook.

So if things are getting a bit uncomfortable right now in downtown Riyadh - suicide bombings just like previously in Tel Aviv - it does not seem terribly surpirsing.

There is much more to be said about the Truell/Cowper-Coles link that specifically shows their role in the direct financing of UK Labour Party politicians from Enron-controlled slush funds. Watching the UK media break the current Pince Charles 'scandal' stories is the beginning of opening that particular can of worms.

but the terror in others it produces.I think what we have is a small group( say ? ) now after another place and we are not really sure this is all from the same group. How many countries does this make.Middle East, Asia, No and SO America, It is pure terror in all countries that they have produced.We now think of what they want if we know.Our gov likes to say it is our freedom which I think has been disproved in SA .Looks more like it is people who rule without the peoples will that are the ones they do not like.Looks like nationalist feeling. Is their a site that list terror attacts and in what country? I do think our gov knows but blames it all on this one group and killing because they hate freedom, because it fits George's plan to say that.
