Al Gore, other Democrats, step up criticism of Bush over Iraq
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20031110/pl_afp/us_democrats_politics&cid=1521&ncid=1480

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Top Democrats have stepped up their attacks on the George W. Bush administration for its handling of the war in Iraq and the fight against global terrorism, which they say has threatened US civil liberties.

"They created this campaign to bolster their standing in the polls, to bolster their political support around the country, and they used these devices I think to a certain extent to intimidate people," Tom Daschle, leader of Democrats the Republican-controlled US Senate, told NBC television Monday.

The South Dakota senator's comments followed a scathing, hour-long speech delivered Sunday by former Vice President Al Gore, accusing the Bush administration of exploiting Americans' fear of terrorism for political gain.

"In my opinion, it makes no more sense to launch an assault on our civil liberties as the best way to get at terrorists, than it did to launch an invasion on Iraq as the best way to get at Osama bin Laden," Gore told a cheering crowd of some 3,000 Democratic activists on Sunday.

4. Caught part of his speech on CNN at 3 AM in the morning. Is CNN gonna
play it again.

You're absolutely right.

Gore was straitforward, sensible, and TRUTHFUL - how refreshing
to hear truth once again.

And the DNC /DLC don;t want to support him?

I would wonder if he has enough support to run as an independent?

7. On the other hand, we really need him to start liberal tv/radio stations
our word has to get out to the American people who
believe the BIG LIES repeated often by bushco.

Hitler said the bigger the lie and the more often repeated
the more it will be believed.

Funny that bushco and Karl seem to have learned that so
well.

Other than Lyndon Johnson's lie about Vietnam and the Tonkin
incident and the Warren report on JFK assassination I don't
remember any other administration that did this Alice in Wonderland
world. Not even Nixon, who only lied about the one thing.

Oh yeah, well there was REagan/Bush 1 and Iran Contra.

I watched all the way to the end (didn't even wanna take a bathroom break) HOPING he would announce his candidacy.

damn..

i just wonder how many current candidates would drop out because they wouldn't want to run against the guy who should rightfully be in the white house right now..
