Sources: U.S. may cooperate with Hamas
U.S. does not reject cooperation with Hamas led government, Palestinians say; Rice: Israel's right to exist cannot be questioned

<snip>

"Despite declarations to the contrary, the United States does not reject out of hand future contacts with a Hamas-led Palestinian government, Palestinian sources said Sunday.

"There are signals arriving from the U.S. government that it does not reject the possibility of cooperating with a Hamas-led government," the sources claimed.

The sources expressed their confidence that Hamas supporters enlisted by the group in the Arab world will succeed in convincing the Americans to view the group as a party for contacts in the region. They added that a number of other elements in addition to Russia, including Spain and China together with Arab countries, will cooperate and recognize a Hamas-led government.

According to the sources, the U.S. is trying to present a united front along with Israel regarding Hamas in order not to embarrass Olmert during his election campaign. However, the sources said, the Americans do not reject cooperation with Hamas."

1. So, we now help terrorists. Does that now make us terrorists too?
Hamas is a terrorist organization. *co made things quite clear in Sept 2001 with his own speech. Hamas is a terrorist organization. Anyone who helps terrorists is in turn considered one... something to that effect.

So why is the US suggesting it'll work with a terrorist state? There's good money and/or oil involved.

3. We worked with a number of Israeli PMs who had been terrorists, so why not
Hamas? Peace will never be achieved if people don't talk to one another.

2. They're attempting to govern
I think it is better to help them govern then to help them fail. And I am no fan of Hamas (even though I am a body double for the late Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi, MD - except I smile more).
