Blair says Iraq protesters should look to future
This should be a hoot.

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L10661984.htm

LONDON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Monday the tens of thousands expected to protest in London against U.S. President George W Bush over the Iraq war should recognise the country was better off without Saddam Hussein.

London will mount one of its biggest security operations ever during Bush's visit that starts on November 19 as an expected 100,000 people cram London to berate Bush over Iraq.

"Protest if you will. That is your democratic right," Blair said at the Lord Mayor's banquet, a glittering London event that marks the prime minister's keynote foreign policy speech of the year.

"Attack the decision to go to war, but have the integrity to realise that without it, those Iraqis now tasting freedom would still be under the lash of Saddam Hussein and his sons.

Blair, routinely lampooned by cartoonists as Bush's "poodle" because of his decision to join the United States in waging war in Iraq, denounced what he called a "poisonous propaganda monster" hounding America and feeding terrorism and extremism.

1. I'm sure the Iraqis LOVE being the central front of the terror war
how many other countries are now jealous, wishing THEY could have all of "al Qaeda" enter their country and cause mayhem and death?

10. My reply:
the protesters ARE looking ahead to the future!!! And they see a future without Tony Blair and The Bush, and new, competent leaders who will pick up the pieces and clean up the mess.

No thanks to Tony! (at least they have more freedom in the UK - wish I was there to protest on the 19th - sigh)

16. Bawahahaha
Blair sounds like one of those politicians that went inside the alien ship in "V" and came out saying the "visitors" were our friends.

13. Tony Blair is a player in Goethe's "Faust"
In that story, Mephistopheles (the devil) came to Faust in the form of a poodle. Maybe this time, The Poodle himself is Faust.

15. Blair's counseling integrity???
Holy smokes, but you're such a hypocrite, Tony. I'm beginning to regard you as the walking embodiment of the "Dune" science fiction series that Frank Herbert wrote. The first book was great. It set out a fictional world with all the allure and trappings of Tolkein's Middle Earth complete with back story. By the end of that first volume, though, it was apparent that Herbert was getting bored with his creation. The climactic battle scene was over in mere paragraphs and good was ascendant. The next two installments, "Dune Messiah" and "Children of Dune" continued the downward slide such that I quit the series at that point.

Similarly, Tony the Poodle started off so promisingly as the first Labour PM in years and years. His work with the Clinton administration and political adroitness in Britain made him a leader to be reckoned with. Now, he's just a third rate whore, the one the pimp peddles to the really drunk tourist who doesn't know any better.

17. "Better off" now?
Puhleeze!

Just this morning there was a report on the BBC about how badly the medical facilities are; how women are afraid to take their children to hospitals; how the water isn't safe and disease is rampant.

Yeah sure, they're better off!
