In Mississippi, 33 percent of voters were black - 3 to 6 points higher than in VNS exit polls in the past three presidential elections - and 94 percent of them voted to re-elect Democratic Gov. Ronnie Musgrove.
But 77 percent of whites backed Barbour, propelling the Washington lobbyist and former national Republican chairman to victory with 53 percent of the overall vote.
Black turnout may have gotten a boost in Mississippi because Democratic nominees in two down-ballot races were black. Both lost, however, as just 8 percent of whites voted for Barbara Blackmon for lieutenant governor and only 22 percent of whites backed Gary Anderson for treasurer.

But elections in Southern states are increasingly breaking down along white/black lines. Whites for Republicans and blacks for Democrats.

It's happening at the national level, too, although the disparity isnt nearly as great yet.

Being swayed -- having Repubicans appeal to latent conservative attitudes about race -- doesn't make you a racist. That doesn't mean the Republican Party is off the hook.

Someone needs to look the po' whites in the eyes and address this question directly. "You guys have been terrorized by the monarchy into believing that the Democrats are going to give your jobs to the blacks." Even with some affirmative action--the overall net change being slight, since it's largely run its historic course--you don't lose anywhere near what you lose with the crushing of labor, tort reform, defunding of education, profit-rape healthcare piracy and shipping of jobs overseas.

The real assault on the working poor is expressed in abolishing time-and-a-half overtime for any non-union employee making more than the princely sum of $22.5K a year. Democrats would never do that. The real assault is the freeloading of the rich, whose unwillingness to pay taxes degrades the roadways, reduces the police and fire protection and costs endlessly in many ways for the poor. THIS is the real issue, and it has to be addressed.

Someone has to look at a sea of poor white faces and tell them the truth: you've been suckered into thinking that blacks are going to be given your opportunities by the very people who are taking away your livelihoods, quality of life, freedom and future. You've been lied to, and they've tried to make you racists by driving you into poverty and claiming it's other people's fault. THESE hate merchants are your enemies.

on display as a celebration of whiteness. They let it be known that white is good, people of color are bad.

To Jessica's credit, she isn't playing their game anymore. I hope she ends up being the biggest thorn in their sides ever.
