Case for war made up, say top names
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=3533304&thesection=news&thesubsection=world
An unprecedented array of United States intelligence professionals, diplomats and former Pentagon officials have gone on record to lambast the Bush Administration for its distortion of the case for war against Iraq.
In their view, the very foundations of intelligence-gathering have been damaged in ways that could take years, even decades, to repair.

A new documentary circulating in the US features one powerful condemnation after another, from the sort of people who usually stay discreetly in the shadows.

They include a former director of the CIA, two former assistant secretaries of defence, a former ambassador to Saudi Arabia and even the man who served as President George W. Bush's Secretary of the Army until just a few months ago.

3. Yet according to polls.................
a majority of people in this country still think the chimp in chief is doing a good job. My theory that a majority of Americans are simply too ignorant to undertsand anything more complex than the directions on the label of a can of Beefaroni seems sadly true. I'm beyond asking the question, "when will these people wake up"? It's quite clear that they won't. They like being told what to think by Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly et al. It frees up time for the important things in life like watching "professional wrestling" and Sunday football. These people go to the voting booths armed with no more information than what they've been told by the blood sucking rightwing crackpots, and that fact alone is what keeps me awake at night.

6. As usual, this story isn't even a blip
on the radar of the US Press. Bu$hCo lied about all of the reasons for going to war! You would think this would be worthy of 24/7 coverage?

BTW: Sharonstone, welcome to DU and great pic of W.

Radio is key! I can't say it loud enough. I huge areas of this country the only news they get and the only commentary they get at key times during the day and night are from RW talk radio and FOX News channels.

If anyone should be tried for treason and harm to our nation it should be the likes of Scaife and Murdoch...and the men and women who knowinly spew out the lies and half truths...Greta, Geraldo, O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, and their ilk AND the so-called media whores from the mainstreatm networks should be held equally accountable for the deaths of our young men and women and toll that Bush and Co is taking on our country. A day of judgement should soon be at hand. I wish them many, many sleepless nights.

21. Yes, & activism against RW media needs to get upfront & personal
In today's era of gated Eden communities and private jets, the ability to simply shame ignorant/sociopathic lying public figures into an embarassed early retirement through face-to-face confrontation has been lost. I.e, compared to the small-town era.

and there's nothing to replace it.

10. Great - where the hell were these folks in Jan?
When Bush* started his relentless frive why the hell didn't these top names put their careers on line and say, "uh, Chief, this is crap, ad if you persist I'm going to the media?" That woulda been the patriatic thing to do - a friendly reminder on this Veterans' Day.

13. Many of them WERE out there, but I don't think they realized that making
a statement that would get published in the US required a gun to the head of the media owners. These things are STILL not published here. Many of these people were trying to push their message through proper channels not realizing those channels had been purchased by the Bush Crime Family. They did go to their superiors, but for naught. They did draft articles and papers, which would not be published.

17. Thanks Lees
Many did, I know, all of DU knows. However, many didn't, and a collective voice was not raised. And no, the media is beyond complicant, they were an intrical part of Bush's* success in going to war. It is important to recall that over half the publicwanted nothing to do with Georgie's war prior to the first bombs.
Note also that, unless I miss it, the article mentions no specific individual or action that was taken prior to the war.

15. Make a difference. Buy the video!
I ordered mine from moveon.org, and you can get yours here:

http://www.truthuncovered.com/

Order it. Hold a house party. Show it to your friends. Go to your local coffeehouse and ask to show it there. Show it on campus. If you're in highschool (I know we have DUers in high school too) organize an event to show it to your peers. Order an extra copy and send it to your local newspaper. You can make a difference people, and you can get the word out. The folks that made this documentary already did all the hard work for you. All you have to do is buy it and keep it on the screens.

16. Geez, notice how they don't give the name of
the documentary? Don't want to arouse any interest, do we?
I assume this is about the "Uncovered: The Whole Truth about the Iraq War" available at:
http://www.truthuncovered.com/
or by a minimum $30 donation to moveon.org at: https://www.moveonvoterfund.org/donate/uncovered.html?id=2061-1363793-WafmN6MXZ4NdcuqZKvsI1Q

Don't mean to seem like I'm advertising or anything. I plan on getting a few copies of this and donating them to the local libraries around the area. We can sit and bitch about how "dumb" sheeples are, but that's not being very constructive, is it?
