CNN Says It Planted Question in Debate
http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-tv-planted-question,0,2705882.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A college student who asked the Democratic presidential candidates at a debate whether they preferred the PC or Mac format for their computers says the question was planted by CNN.

The news network on Tuesday acknowledged that a producer went "too far" in telling Brown University student Alexandra Trustman what to ask.

CNN televised the debate, co-sponsored by the nonprofit Rock the Vote organization, last week. It was billed as an event geared to the interests of young people.

CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson said the cable network regrets the producer's actions. She would not identify the employee.

This should be a wake up call to all on who a network (any network) can intentionally or unintentionally, steer something that’s relevant to an irrelevant status…

3. Yeah, like the flag question
and the stupid Red Sox question. CNN is becoming another Faux. Friday morning the trio of idiots that CNN has on their news show openly complain about having stories about Rosie and Gore on the same day. They totally ignored what Gore said about PATRIOT Act!

5. For some reason, the later version of Barry Goldwater comes to mind.
I remember him telling Bush in the 1988 debates to "stop all this foolishness and start talking about the ISSUES" or some such thing.

I think the old school politicians would be disgusted with what American electoral politics has become. I know I am.

9. So What Happens If the Ones Who Agree To Ask The Phoney Questions...
...actually ask Real Questions Instead?

Gitmo, I suppose.

Presumably EVERY question and answer is scripted these days.
der shrub couldn't cope with anything more than that.

10. We shouldn't tolerate this kind of government.
"Scripted Presidential Press Conferences". Has it always been this way? Or is it just more obvious these days? Were Bill Clinton's town hall meetings this scripted?

6. CNN trying hard to discredit their own debate
In the rerun they editted out Clark's response, Dean's skying question and added the exculpatory editorial re: apology. Since the issue didn't die down, now it's this!

7. Thank you, Jordan
Well, Jordan, you're not going to believe what state I was in when I heard about the terrorist attack. I was in Florida. (On Sept. 11, Bush was visiting the Booker Elementary School to promote literacy programs.) And my Chief of Staff, Andy Card - actually, I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower - the TV was obviously on. And I used to fly, myself, and I said, well, there's one terrible pilot. I said, it must have been a horrible accident.

(debates aren't the only things faked in this country)

11. Plus they edited the rebroacast
of the debate. But don't worry, they made look Dean better than on the original. They edited out the "skiing" reference, cut out Clark's "knew Clinton would run" line that got much applause, and editorialized the Flag issue. So Deanies have not fear, CNN is your friend, for the moment.

12. until he gets the nomination
Yes, I'd believe they would do that. Bias toward Dean in the primaries, then turn on him for the general election.

14. And here's how the candidates answered
John Kerry: Although I like all computers, I happen to know that Howard Dean's computer is spreading malicious viruses.

John Edwards: Being able to choose a Mac or PC is what makes America great - but we don't need your kind, Howard Dean, coming down to the south to tell pick-up drivers how to plug it in!

Al Sharpton: It's time the party came out of disrepute and started to compute! I want us to be a computing nation, and overcome indignation, which is an abomination destination!

Dennis Kucinich: As my first official act I will establish a Department of Peaceful Computing. Next, I will defeat world hunger by personally levitating three inches off the ground.

Dick Gephardt: I propose using these computers in a spirit of bipartisanship.

Joe Lieberman: If invading Syria and Iran, regulating dirty books and movies, and having lunch with my good friend William Bennett is what it takes to give every American child an advantage in computing, then my administration will not shirk its duty.
