US Senate backs Syria sanctions
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3262413.stm
The upper house of the US Congress has overwhelmingly backed a bill to slap sanctions on Syria if it fails to address long-standing security issues.
Senators backed the bill after a similar show of support in the House of Representatives in October.

The bill allows President George W Bush to impose sanctions if Syria is found to be backing terror groups or acquiring weapons of mass destruction

1. Is that Bush painting for his term in Office?Syria now.
Well as always we must find someone to blame this on, since it sure can not be that we are running around Iraq with 150,000 men killing people. That can not be it. Must be Syria. Yes lets do things to Syria. Another great move on the part of the peace loving Americans. This is madness. Vietnam here we come. When will American's see that might is not always right and does not always win.

2. Unless there is a draft
and all those gung-ho beer-drinking buddies will be forcefully drafted into the army to dodge bullets for no cause then there will be something in their brain twirling.

3. US Syria bill could lead to invasion (Robert Byrd)
Remember when many Democrats ignored Byrd's warning about Iraq? The same Democrats are ignoring Byrd's warning about Syria.

US Syria bill could lead to invasion
Wednesday 12 November 2003, 6:35 Makka Time, 3:35 GMT

Senator Robert Byrd, an outspoken critic of US Middle East policy, said on Tuesday that he feared the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Act would be used to justify future military action against Damascus.

<snip>

But he highlighted one particular section of the bill that referred to "hostile actions" by Syria against US-led forces in Iraq.

Preemptive strikes

"I have not seen any evidence that would lead me to believe that it is the government of Syria that is responsible for the attacks against our troops in Iraq," Byrd said.

"Such insinuations can only build the case for military action against Syria, which unfortunately is a very real possibility because of the dangerous doctrine of preemption created by the administration," he said.
