Suit: W.Va. Police Chief Denied Gay Man CPR
If this is true, this fucker should fry.

By ALLISON BARKER, Associated Press Writer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A small-town police chief was accused in a federal lawsuit Thursday of stopping a would-be rescuer from performing CPR on a gay heart attack victim because he assumed the ailing man had HIV and posed a health risk.

Claude Green, 43, died June 21 after being stricken yards from City Hall in Welch, a community of about 2,400. The American Civil Liberties Union sued on behalf of his mother.

Police Chief Bobby Bowman called the allegations "a boldface lie." He said that he called an ambulance and that Green was taken to the hospital in "no more than nine minutes."
"No one refused him CPR as his sister and mom are saying. They can do what they want, but if they're saying I refused him CPR, that is no way true," Bowman said.

The lawsuit accuses Bowman of pulling off Green's friend Billy Snead as Snead was performing chest compressions on the man. Snead was a passenger in Green's pickup truck when Green collapsed; Snead had managed to pull over the vehicle. Green was pronounced dead at the hospital after about 30 minutes of attempts to revive him.

12. I'd argue depraved indifference, myself.
The friend likely told the officer that the man didn't have AIDS. If that's the case, the officer clearly didn't care enough to allow the CPR.

The officer wasn't the one even touching the victim, he had no fucking right to do this!

6. I'll reserve judgement until more is known, but...
sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. Ignorance runs rampant in this country.

7. A message for the Chief
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 10:38 PM by TomClash
A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came a priest and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, saw the man, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, went to him, and tended to his wounds, pouring in oil and wine. Hoisting him on his back, the Samaritan brought him to an inn and took care of him. When he departed the next morning, he took out two coins, and gave them to the host, and said, "Take care of him; and if you spend more, when I come again, I will repay you."

14. And this, this RIGHT here, is why I'm torn in two.
On the one hand, I'm not an inherently violent person.

On the other, I'm a dog that's been kicked so many times I'm about to bite.

My question is, at which point can it be said by a reasonable person that "he deserved to get bit," as in:

"He was kicking that dog. Holding it down, and kicking it in the side as hard as he could. The dog was yelping and crying, but with a huge foot to its neck besides, it had to struggle. Finally, once free, it refused to run- it instead faced down its attacker, ravaging and mauling the man's leg.

That man deserved to get bit. He was torturing that poor dog."

When do YOU all sagely nod and agree? Because I've only seen people like me struggling my entire life, and things for us have only gotten worse, legislatively speaking.

When corporations that today give us benefits decide that that is no longer making them more money in the long run, and they remove those benefits and decide that with a "religious" crowd running the show it's better to just fire us outright, what then?

JUST EXACTLY WHERE IS THAT FUCKING LINE IN THE SAND, ANYWAY???

guy doing the CPR

Mr. Snead resisted, saying he was having success. Trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Mr. Snead tried to continue pressing and then pounding on Mr. Green's chest.

"Every time I'd do it, he'd take a breath," Mr. Snead said of Mr. Green yesterday.

But the chief was adamant, Mr. Snead said. "He just come over and told me to get off of him," Mr. Snead said.

16. If this is allowed to stand, where will it end?
If Bowman was there to call an ambulance, Bowman was there to administer CPR. If he refused because Green was a dirty faggot, why not if the victim is a dirty a-rab? Or a dirty Democrat? Or a dirty (insert your favorite racial epithet here)?

A passenger in the truck the victim was driving gave him CPR, and Bowman stopped him!
This is some verrrrrry sick shit, if true.
