Government Outgrows Cap Set by President Discretionary Spending Rose 12.5%
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28252-2003Nov11.html
Confounding President Bush's pledges to rein in government growth, federal discretionary spending expanded by 12.5 percent in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, capping a two-year bulge that saw the government grow by more than 27 percent, according to preliminary spending figures from congressional budget panels.

1. It's the Democrats fault..............
even though we control neither house, I'm sure the blame will be firmly affixed to the "Tax and Spend Democrats". Spending gone wild, record deficits, tax cuts for the rich, a bloated Pentagon hemmoraging money.....all the fault of the Democrats I tell you! How can an honest Republican stand behind this ass? Shrub is by far, the WORST President this country has ever had. Just the sight of his stupid monkey face sets off my gag reflex, if he speaks........

5. What in the world does this phrase, "an honest Republican," refer to?

9. I was being
sarcastic. Of COURSE its the fault of our rethug one party state, but you know they won't take responsibility for it. Funny how the chimp was out their basking in the glory of our "rising economy" and not a fricking word as it tanks. They will find a way to blame it on the party out of power and the media will be happy to pass along their talking points without rebuttal.

4. The Party of Big Government
The government has grown 27% in the last 2 years?

TWENTY SEVEN PERCENT???

That's huge, considering how large it was to begin with.

I am so going to shove this little fact under the nose of every 'we-believe-in-small-government' Republican I meet. Borrow and Spend, indeed.

6. Voodoo economics
If ya cut taxes, and ya raise spending 27%, and it takes ya 2 years to grow the economy, you are seriously screwed.

This is a credit card binge, that our grandkids are going to be paying for years from now.

I would be doing "quite well" if I got an extra $10,000 credit limit on my Visa, and then proceeded to cut my monthly payments on it. If this can be explained in the credit card analogy to the american people, the economic gains of this last quarter will be shown for what they are, smoke and mirrors.

7. Republican presidents always run huge deficits.
Since Kennedy was president, the federal government has run accumulated federal deficits totaling around $3.5 trillion. Of this amount about $3.3 trillion was accumulated during the 22 years of republican presidents and about $300 billion was accumulated during the 20 years of democratic presidents.

(Note that the budget in the first year of a presidential term is from the preceding term. Also the estimates for 2003 and subsequent years are no longer valid. They now are higher.)
