We are the "coalition liberators", the Iraqi population are the terrorists. (Except Chalabi and friends)

107. Minor correction on the schools
We opened some schools. I can't find the link now. We opened about 1500 schools out of a total of over 5000. This was supposed to be reported as one of Shrub's feel good stories, but fell on its' keaster when the actual news came out.

Report Warns Iraqis Supporting Resistance
New Report Warns More Iraqis Losing Faith With U.S.-Led Occupation, Starting to Support Resistance
WASHINGTON Nov. 12 — A new top-secret intelligence report warns that Iraqis are losing faith in U.S.-led occupation forces, a development that is increasing support for the resistance, officials said Wednesday.
CIA officials refused to confirm the existence of the report, but it comes to light amid high-level meetings here on the situation on the ground in Iraq. Two other senior U.S. officials said the report paints a worrisome picture of the political and security situation there.

It suggests spiraling violence and a lack of confidence in the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council may be bringing efforts to a turning point, sending more Iraqis over to the side of insurgents fighting occupation troops, said two officials speaking on condition of anonymity.
<snip>
On the subject of the increasing violence, one official noted that American forces already are using more aggressive raids and other tactics to try to fight insurgents, which officials fear could alienate more Iraqis. For instance, American forces responded with aerial bombing and mortars over the weekend in a show-of-force response to the downing of a U.S. helicopter last week.

43. That's what I want to know too.
In order to drop such bombs on something there should be a target like drug factory or terrorist camp or Osama bin Laden stronghold with guns sticking in the air (pardon my sarcasm).

Just wasting 1 ton bombs by dropping them on the farming fields is a direct insult to all those hardworking, tax-paying individuals in US of A. Sorry for my rant.

More bombs dropped more bombs needed replacing which means more jobs. They must have had a bad production month and decided they need to use up some ordnance. You can't go to war against an idea so they bomb cow patties.

39. "Send Lott" petition
http://www.petitiononline.com/SendLott/petition.html

To: Senate of the United States of America

On 29 October 2003, Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) is reported to have suggested his final solution to the Iraq problem:

"We need to have a different mix of troops, is the key. We may need to move some troops around. Honestly, it’s a little tougher than I thought it was going to be. If we have to, we just mow the whole place down, see what happens. You’re dealing with insane suicide bombers who are killing our people, and we need to be very aggressive in taking them out." ("GOP unity is strained by attacks", by Geoff Earle, http://www.thehill.com/news/102903/gopunity.aspx)

We request that Senator Lott be sent immediately to Iraq to, in his own words, "mow the place down". Mr. Lott would bring the appropriate aggressiveness needed to stop "insane suicide bombers who are killing our people." It is clear that only Senator Lott understands the situation in Iraq, so it would be in America's best interest that the Senator go to Iraq immediately and clean it up.

We note that Senator Lott declined military service when he had the opportunity ("Chickenhawk Database", http://www.nhgazette.com/cgi-bin/NHGstore.cgi?user_action=list&category=%20NEWS%3B%20Chickenhawks), but with a few weeks of modern Army training, he should be prepared to patrol the streets of Fallujah and start mowing with gusto.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

25. Do they REALLY think this will help?
George Bush has all the tact and nuance of a drunken frat boy--sorry, I'm being redundant.

That great diplomat and statesman Trent Lott said to mow 'em all down, and by god, it looks like they've adopted his plan. But does the Administration really believe that this will cow the Iraqis into submission? I think that Bush really believes that overwhelming military force will trump any situation, and he couldn't be more wrong.

But what will we tell the children? Remember that annoying question from a few years back? Well, I guess we'll have no choice but to tell the children that, when dealing with adversity, if things get really frustrating and really difficult...drop large bombs. Resort to bullying and violence. Never admit you're wrong, just step up the violence. After all, the "enemy" is something less than human. That is the lesson being taught to our children.

This petulant, knee-jerk, sniveling and pathetic man isn't qualified to run a kiosk in a mall, let alone extricate us from an international mess of his own making. Shame on those who have enabled this destroyer; they have blood and mayhem on their hands.

Their friends and buddies that deal in arms. As for children well just fuck them who cares what they think or feel or see. We hate kids is the GOP mantra. Why do you think they produce so many fucked up adults?

When the going gets tough the truly cowardly and wimpy SOBs cower behind force. This manly facade makes them believe they are powerful and omnipotent sadly they are just SO WRONG.

The Bush team needs to watch the Teletubbies and lay off the vodka and viagra.

Looks like the old V squared isn't producing the correct results.

well, considering that 14 Italians were just killed, pretty soon I would guess..........

NASSIRIYA, Iraq (Reuters) - A car bomb ripped through an Italian military police base in the Iraqi town of Nassiriya Wednesday, killing at least 14 Italians and eight Iraqis in what appeared to be a fresh suicide attack.

72. Great read, the type of info they don't want us to have!
50,000 in his tribe alone. And they have taken credit for the Chinook, yet we keep getting told former Baathists, supporters of Saddam, foreign "jihadist" (who helped chimpy come up with that word anyway)

Winning the hearts and minds....

'Previously, I had a good view of American people,' said Adnan. 'But we have changed our mind after seeing the aggression - the soldiers in Falluja and Khaldiya are very aggressive.

'The people here do not do these attacks for no reason. If someone in their clan has been killed, they will take revenge.'

In the area around Falluja, the US army appears to be winning hearts and minds - for their enemy.

'The American army is our best friend,' a resistance fighter told us. 'We should be giving them medals.'

See the LBN thread US Seeks a Faster Trasition in Iraq

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28318-2003Nov11.html

Some council members, in turn, have contended that the failure of the U.S.-led occupation to give them greater authority in running Iraq's affairs, particularly in security, made it difficult to put down a rebellion in an arc of territory running north and west of Baghdad. That lack of security has made their task more difficult. Some on the council are pressing the occupation authority to grant it the status of a provisional government, a step they contend would bring greater stability.

Rockets Hit Baghdad as U.S. Vows to Get Tough
Tue November 11, 2003

"The most important message is that we're going to get pretty tough," said Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, whose forces have unleashed air bombing for the first time since Bush declared major combat over on May 1.

"That's what's necessary to defeat this enemy and we're definitely not shy about doing that," Sanchez told a news briefing.

Washington blames die-hard supporters of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and foreign guerrillas for the attacks.

"Not a single tool that we have available would be spared if necessary to defeat that enemy," Sanchez said. "Although the coalition can be benevolent, this is still the same lethal formation that removed the former oppressive regime."

Of course there is no mention as to where they might be dropping these 2000 lb bombs that they think are necessary in order to defeat the enemy. So much for liberation.

All this will do is increase hostility towards the US and the troops in Iraq. To think that a country can bomb another country into agreeing with your beliefs is totally foolish. This whole Iraq situation is just one huge nightmare. Truly tragic.

87. I've been Googling - 2,000 lb bomb may be JDAM satellite smart bombs...
They are often dropped by B-1Bs, B-52s, and B2s:

The air power being assembled in the region includes the B-2 Stealth bomber and the F-117 Stealth fighter. The Pentagon has also sent into the region B-1B and B-52 long-range strategic bombers, each capable of flying long missions and dropping as many as a dozen 2,000-pound satellite-guided JDAM bombs that are likely to be used to target key Iraqi defense installations and communications links.

Exactly what is left in Iraq that requires the use of a "smart bomb." Am I mistaken in believing that this weapon is/was used to attack KNOWN enemy military targets? And I'm to believe there are still some left?

to endanger troops getting to the target. If you're in "firm control" of a country, yet you need to use JDAMs to do your fighting...

98. satire
This just in. British Colonial Army announces get-tough policy with American rebels. British commanders, tired of rebel colonists brutal and unfair "hide in the weeds" tactics, announced a new strategy to deter the rebel attacks. Strict martial law has been declared in Boston and Philadelphia, hotbeds of rebel activity. Captured rebels will be summarily executed. The King has authorized deployment of more naval forces to enforce the blockade of American port cities. A Colonial Army spokesman stated that major offensives will be launched by ground forces to locate and destroy the rebel army and it's commander, George Washington. The bold military moves are hoped to end the rebellion and restore peace to the American colony.

115. This Is Just Priceless
two weeks ago the administration admitted they didn't know who the enemy "terrorists" are.

Now we're dropping 2,00 lbs bombs. Isn't this the old "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" strategy?

As an after thought, I wonder how these Chosen-by-God crusaders are rationalizing the continuing massive failures of their campaign. Does W lie awake at night praying? Does he think God is only testing him and if he just keeps "staying the course", God will justify his faith with a grand victory and a permanent presidency?

I'm continually outraged and nauseated by everything this administration has done to my country and to the world.

When will the thousands dead, maimed and robbed blind get their justice?

If this bastard Bush gets away with this, I'll be ready to take it to the streets.

This is NOT America.
