France pleads for urgent US shift on Iraq

PARIS (AFP) - The moment has come for an urgent change of US policy on Iraq, French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said as he urged Washington to hand over power as quickly as possible to the Iraqi people.

"The international community cannot wait any longer," the minister told Europe 1 radio.

"There are some American representatives on the ground who continue to hold the old, typical language used by all ... occupation governments: We need a little more time. Well time, sadly, means more people dead," he said Thursday.

But the foreign minister also promised French support for the American administration, which he said was facing a "tragic crisis."

The fact that France is pledging support for the American administration is amazing, considering all that our misAdministration has done to tarnish France's good name. If I were France I can't say that I'd be so accomadating. If they thing that, after all the rhetoric, Bush and his ever-present Holy Pride are going to oblige - they have another thing coming. If there is one thing more important than American lives its our President's pride.
