NAFTA panel again sides with Canada on softwood
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - A NAFTA trade panel said on Friday that the United States erred in the way it calculated duties on imports of Canadian softwood lumber.
U.S. lumber producers immediately complained that the ruling could eventually end duties on Canadian softwood, which they argue is subsidized. They called on Washington to fight the decision.

"The NAFTA panel decision issued today is gravely flawed, and signifies a potential end to an important antidote in the U.S. lumber industry's efforts to counter the poison that is Canadian lumber industry practices," the U.S. Coalition For Fair Lumber Imports said.

A trade group representing Canadian lumber producers called the decision a victory.

1. Rules are for the OTHER guys
We're Merkins and we can torture, build new nukes, pollute, terrorize and violate our own treaties to our heart's content. This is how the GOP works...rules are for the other guys.

2. Let's see what Harper does with this
He's been complaining for years about the Liberal's inability to get this resolved. Now it's his turn.

Shooting wars have been started over less and he's already sabre-rattled over Arctic sovereignty.

I'm 50. I wonder if I'm too old for the draft. Knew I shouldn't have sold that rifle.

3. He'll negotiate...
and rollover...amusing that the Big Go-To Guy for the Liberals on softwood was Dave Emerson...so expect more of the same successful strategy of 'keeping quiet about it' and strong-arming anyone that might suggest 'retaliatory tariffs'.
