Wal-Mart, Target Cool Holiday Sales Hopes
So much for all those free-spending consumers:

Wal-Mart, Target Cool Holiday Sales Hopes

By Emily Kaiser

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. on Thursday cooled holiday shopping expectations with muted outlooks for the vital retail season, dimming hopes that a rebounding U.S. economy would bring robust sales.

1. i don't know much about target but i hope
walmart sales plummet

especially considering the fact that they now admit to letting other corporations spy on their customers

2. Target's not great, but a damn sight better than Wally world
Target is GLBT friendly, carries better stuff, and doesn't treat their people nearly as shittily as Wally world.

They ain't saints, but I'd much rather have a Target in my town than those carpetbaggers from Bentonville.

3. i like target, never been to wall mart
i shop at target, usually for personal care items though they have many other things at good prices. i have never been to wall mart and most likely will never go while they keep up their current business practices.

4. I'm such a prole, I like Target too
I actually buy clothes there. Their casual office wear works fine at my work, and I'd rather pay $19 for a pair of their khakis than $39 for Dockers. Target's house brand seems to hold up just as well.

Good place for kids clothes, household goods, that sort of thing. They give a lot of money to the communities where they operate (pouring significant dollars into the Warwick, RI school system here).

Also, Target stores aren't icky inside... they seem clean, the people seem legitimately friendly.

Wal-Mart is the devil's flea market.

5. yeah, i feel the same way
going into target it does feel nice and clean. i remember kmart from when i was a kid and how not so clean and messy it seemed to me. target is nothing like that. i have gotten good reviews on the clothes and other things from target too. it seems they have improved over the years and continue to do so.

6. Target is a much better store.
Better quality merchandise than Walmart, cleaner...I like shopping there too! Walmart has too much cheap low-quality crap, from what I've seen.

7. One Target Problem

I have my own small fabric design business-one of a kind, hand made items. A couple of years ago Target was sued and found at fault for copying two artisans work and having it massed produced. It is really hard for me to buy any gift or accessory type item from them because of these types issues.
We work really hard to make things with our hands and make a living for ourself, them to have our ideas sent to some third world sweatshop, just so "Superstores" and huge corporations can make a larger profit for a few Ceo's. Then we both get screwed (U.S. small business owners and sweatshop workers).

I won't even discuss Wal-Mart!
