Power blackout in US
New York - Strong wind kicked up by a fast-moving cold front swept through the Midwest and Great Lakes and headed to the eastern part of the United States on Thursday, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands, tossing buildings and spinning a crane "like a weather vane."

A motorist died in a flooded creek in West Virginia, and a 14-year-old girl was seriously injured after a tree fell on her as she waited for a school bus in Sterling, Virginia.

I did several searches, why isn't this already posted?

1. I heard a tornado went through southern Ohio
I was on the phone with someone there for biz stuff and she lost her electricity. I never got the call back...for when the electricity went back up.

There were extremely strong winds where I live last night. I'd forgotten I'd left my bathroom window open from the warm day before and this morning I found leaves all over the floor!

Is this considered regular extreme weather or extreme extreme weather, I wonder?

7. Big winds here in DC
And not from the usual political sources.

I barely had to pedal, cycling into work this morning. Coming home was a battle, plowing fierce headwinds. At least it wasn't fluking around from every direction. I passed another hard core rider, who was forced to dismount and walk. Oh well, it still beats the train or a car.

10. Winds rock Air Force One
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Air Force One was rocked by strong winds Thursday night as it returned President Bush to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland after a fund-raising trip to Florida.

As the aircraft made its descent, the winds rocked it, causing several stomach-lurching drops, according to a pool reporter on board. It even provoked groans from Secret Service officers.

11. There were posts in the lounge yesterday
We did have a probable tornado outside the town I live in (Ohio). Five houses were destroyed, five had major damage and five had minor damage. It hit a cluster of homes in a valley a few miles from me. Wooster, Ohio, home of Rubbermaid also had a lot of damage from another probable tornado. All this occured the night before last.

13. I lost power and 2 large beautiful trees
Just sad..both 100 yrs old, 60 feet tall came crashing down...Now, it looks like large empty spots where once stood tall sentrys guarding the house...I hope Mother Nature hurries up and plants something fast to replace them.

14. Very Windy all over the east yesterday
It was very windy yesterday here in upstate SC, and I talked to people in VA and OH who were having major wind. The VA people had power out. We just had a major cold front pour in on us here in SC. 27 degrees this morning, our first frost and we hadn't even had temps in the 30s yet this fall. Day before yesterday was 76.

Brrrrrrr :scared:
