'No silver spoons for children born into poverty' - England
Protests greeted a hard-hitting campaign by a British children's charity on Wednesday as it published newspaper advertisements showing a cockroach crawling out of a new born baby's mouth.

The advertisements, published on full pages in some newspapers, drew scores of protests to the watchdog body, the Advertising Standards Authority, which had received more than 60 complaints through its website in the hours following the launch of the campaign.

Other adverts in the series show new-borns with syringes and bottles of industrial alcohol in their mouths.

Those images contrast with a fourth advertisement, showing a happy infant with a silver spoon in its mouth.

In some ways I like this ad. Don't let the Sheeple hide!

1. no one likes to face reality....
I think the ad is rather inventive....and if it wakes people up to the issue then that is good..

But what is even funnier/sadder is that people will call to get a thought provoking ad removed because it bothers their senses ....but I wonder if those same people would call on behalf of the poor to help them out?

2. If you read "A People's History"...
in times of economic stress the poor tend to turn on their "masters".

3. Thank you, Barnardo's
This is a message that must be driven home, no matter how many polite souls it upsets. The more, in fact, the better.

Poverty is intolerable. Rich nations should eliminate it, but won't: wealth is too seductive, and politicians are taught to suckle at it. Under such conditions shocking the society with images of its contemtuous disregard for humanity is a valuable approach.
