Homeland Security worker charged with selling immigration papers
Associated Press

MIAMI - A Department of Homeland Security employee was arrested on charges of selling work documents to illegal aliens for as much as $12,000, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

Isidro Guerrero Fernandez, who worked at the Citizenship and Immigration Service Building in Miami, was charged with conspiring to transfer identification documents, unlawfully obtaining the documents and soliciting and accepting bribes while being a public official.

Guerrero had a first court appearance Thursday before a magistrate judge.

Since December 2002, Guerrero conspired to sell fraudulent Employment Authorization Documents to illegal aliens for prices ranging from $6,500 to $12,000, according to the criminal complaint.

1. Just because this guy is an employee of Homeland
Security doesn't mean he couldn't also be a thief. As if he is some kind of fallen angel or something.

I think it would sound less grave and profound if they said he worked for the INS.

2. Especially like the charge of accepting bribes
while being a public official. Doesn't the idiot know one does the dirty deed on trust then takes a cushy, overpaid job with the parties they did the sirty deed(s) for after resigning as a public official. Then go back to being a public official and do more dirty deeds. The last step allows you to continue taking bribes now called "defered compensation" while trying to make do on public offical salary. Makes it all legal... like how Cheney did it.

4. Isidro Guerrero Fernandez is an "exile" from Cuba. He entered illegally.

But.. the Cuban Adjustment Act gave Isidro Guerrero Fernandez a leg-up over all other immigrants and citizens, which ended up with his preferential employment by the CIS (formerly INS).

What did Isidro Guerrero Fernandez do to show his gratitude to us Americans who took him in and funded his way for years? He sold illegal work visas to immigrants who don't enjoy all of the perks and taxpayer funded assistance that he enjoyed, and all other Cuban immigrants can enjoy -illegal or not.

Illegal aliens met with an associate of Guerrero's at a restaurant and paid a portion of the fee..

I'll give you three guesses which restaraunt. (Hint - the name begins with a V and its on SW 8th St.)

Ahh.. Miami.. can't you just feel the love?

6. Mika, this is so obnoxious
I was really wondering if he's an "exile," but since I don't live in Florida, I didn't imagine I'd ever know.

The irony is complete. He, along with other Cuban immigrants, through the grace of our outlandish anachronistic cold war, right-wing-driven relationship toward Cuba, and the sweet deal the Miami Mafia has cadged for themselves, can get in not only free but also well rewarded for the effort.

For one of these guys to turn around and start profiting from the trouble other immigrants have getting in is MONSTROUS.

Thanks for the low-down. I really suspected it from the first. Sheesh.
