Help Wanted
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 08:10 AM by dArKeR
First, the good news. Nearly 2.4 million new jobs will be added to the U.S. economy next year, enough to make up for the net jobs lost over the past three.

THE BAD NEWS? Most of those jobs will not be in the sectors that have laid off the most workers—and they will pay less than those lost, according to a new report.
If you lost your job in manufacturing, information technology, wholesale trade or the federal government, you might consider a new career altogether. Those areas shed nearly 3 million jobs in two and a half years. But many of them may be gone for good, lost to overseas facilities, outsourcing, automation or obsolescence.

So you mean even if you PREDICTION comes true we've lost out miserably for the entire Bush Adm. And with adusted inflation and zero interest gains on our savings that we are on the right path?

I want to read your sucking PREDICTION what our country, jobs, and fear would be like if President Gore was President over the last 4 years. Maybe no 9/11 attack? No war in Afghanistan. No war in Iraq. Health insurance for everyone. Jobs and economy continuing the Cliton growth, Ken Lay in prison. Bush in an Insane asylum...

2. I wish I could find a liberal in Dallas to work for
I've been layed off since 2001, a couple of temp jobs since then, but nothing serious. I'm getting really discouraged. If it wasn't for the fact that my partner has a good job I'd be in a world of hurt.

6. Laid off since 2001, too...
Already AM discouraged :( I can't even find a job waiting tables in Detroit as those jobs are already taken by the other displaced workers. Santa is going to have to really cut back on Xmas this year, shame my kids have to feel the pain of this miserable administration.

3. Let's see

9. 3.9 MILLION in 2 years?
Right. Thats about 163,000 per MONTH. Hasn't happened yet.

3.9 M to 4.1 M doesn't sound too awfully bad. Getting close to re-employing everyone.... except that doesn't take into count new workrs entering the workforce. I think I recall seeing the economy had to add 100K per month just to keep unemployment level. (I don't have a link right now. Just thinking.) So, in 24 months that is 2.4 M. jobs just to stay level.

Oops, we only "gained" 1.5 M jobs then. And they are lower paying jobs than what we had. Can we really make it through 4 more years of this?
