Davis declares end to energy crisis
California's energy crisis ended Thursday.

Gov. Gray Davis said so.

In one of his last official acts, Davis proclaimed an official end to the crisis that marked the beginning of his political downfall.

"I'm pleased to declare California's energy emergency over," he said in a prepared statement.

1. Nice article, but what she *didn't say* was that Enron was responsible
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 09:41 AM by SpikeTrees
She did not say that Enron executives executed stock options in the fall that allowed them to walk away with the equity of the company--equity that was accrued by screwing the consumers and taxpayers of California.

I think I have my story straight! Anybody?

edit:pronoun in subject line. Note: I presume Dale is female...

2. right - crisis ended - for the moment !

.. not solved for the long-term - by a longshot !

.. brownouts, blackouts will continue in the future until someone finds a PERMANENT solution

.. but you need some responsible governance to do that - -

.. does this mean it's hopeless?

.. yup - I'm referring to my "responsible governance" statement

even up here in Canukville I find the hydro-electric to be unreliable

that's why I have batteries and solar panels to "keep me going" when the hydro fails

was at first just a summer "perk" for my camping, but now it's in my house for the fall/winter/spring.

and next time I've got a wee bit extra $$ - gonna get more panels/batteries.

Sumtimes we lose power up here just because of our(Canadian) obligations through the "grid" to supply the USA with power

(sigh)

3. That's like saying ...
that the burglary is over, as you stand in your empty house. When do the people of California get their 9 billion dollars back ?

Oh wait, AS has assured Enron that he will drop the lawsuit.

Gray, your last official act should be to declare a state of emergency, as AS takes office.

Cheers
Drifter

4. This means power plants cannot be built w/o full permits
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 10:20 AM by SpikeTrees
That is a very good thing. Environmental Impact Statements will again be required for such new development. AS will not appreciate this parting gift.
