Quran Displayed at NYPD Headquarters
www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=35602

Sooooo...if the 10 Commandments/Bible can't be displayed...what the hell is this doing there? I'm willing to bet that some of the NYPD cops are offended, considering how many of their collegues were killed by some assholes who practiced an insane, corrupt version of the religion based upon the Quran. Yeah, I know it is WorldNetDaily, but I have no reason to disbelieve it.

1. Yeah, I heard that on the news here....
I was 120% against the commandments display, and as an atheist and strict sep of church and state guy I"m 120% against this too.

3. No religious book should be displayed that way in a gov't building

But I'm confused by this:

"...some of the NYPD cops are offended, considering how many of their collegues were killed by some assholes who practiced an insane, corrupt version of the religion based upon the Quran."

Our pResident says this isn't a holy war, but everyone else (including you, apparently) seems to think otherwise. What's up with that? Is this a Crusade or not? I'll need to know so I can dress for it appropriately (ie., chainmail or flannel? Bring my laptop, or bring a sword? Decisions, decisions...)

4. The ACLU think it's wrong too. So do I.
If you really expect DU'ers to support any religious display on public property, you're barking up the wrong tree.

5. Why would I?
It would be intellectually dishonest. It is obvious to all that it is wrong.

7. I would support it, only if the 10 commandments were forced up there
prior, so that I could say, "Okay, you got yours. How about a differing point of view?"

Hey, maybe some of those NYPD guys actually follow Muslim traditions?

I would also be posting Wiccan (which just won a court battle for being allowed to do a Wiccan prayer where a Christian prayer was traditionally allowed), Buddhist, and any other symbols I could come up with until the ones who fought to get the 10 Cs up there are the ones clamoring to take the other stuff down.

Fair's fair, right?

20. You cant have 'all', SEPERATION = NONE!
There are dozens of religions, that would get crowded.

Plus, what about the 15% who have no religion (that 15% is more than all other non christians combined)

16. You guys know...
...that the 10 commandments that were given to Moses are the same 10 commandments in Quran? I hope you know that Moses is also claimed by Muslims to be their prophet (just like Jesus). So I don't think Muslims are against 10 commandments being displayed publicaly since they are mentioned in Quran. So you guys are the ones barking up the wrong tree.

6. I get the impression
that you expect us to support this in some way? I apologize if I'm misinterpreting your post. For the record, my views are very simple and consistent with those brave people who wrote the Constitution of this great country: I'm strongly against any religious display of any kind in any public place.

15. exactly...the whole argument against Moore and the 10 C's were
that if someone put up the Quran, Christian Conservatives wouldn't like it. And whaddya know, they're the first ones to bitch about it.
