Armoured vehicles, soldiers seen in central Tbilisi
TBILISI, Nov. 14 — Five armoured vehicles, four trucks and three buses with soldiers in body armour were seen outside the Interior Ministry by Reuters correspondents on Friday.

The ministry is about two km (about one mile) from the parliament building where more than 10,000 Georgians were taking part in a mass opposition rally to call for President Eduard Shevardnadze to quit.

The ministry has said it would not use force against the crowd unless protesters tried to switch their action to government buildings. Troops at the scene declined to comment.
<snip>
The turmoil was triggered when the opposition said the government had stolen an election victory from them.

Looks like Shevardnadze is about to be forced out of Georgia. These brave protesters are about to take matters into their own hands, as we should have done in 2000...and may still have to do.

30,000 people gathered around the offices, some had been staying overnight. Loads of riot police armed and ready to go. Was so far peaceful but.....

Reporter said it's now gone beyond the election problems....after 10 years of Shev. people are "sick and tired" of low wages, "measly pensions,"and the worsening of life in general. She said Georgia used to be known as the "fruitbowl" of Russia with orchards and grape vineyards...but it is has been falling apart and apparently, things are coming to a head. They want Shev. OUT!
