‘Iran still ready for talks with US on Iraq’
Just a reminder.

GENEVA: Iran is still ready to hold talks with the United States limited to the situation in neighbouring Iraq, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mounachehr Mottaki said on Thursday.

“The recent proposal made by Iraqi leaders for Iran to talk with the US about issues relating to Iraq: we look on this proposal as an opportunity to help the Iraqi nation,” Mottaki told journalists in Geneva. “These negotiations will be limited only to Iraq. The venue, the team of negotiators and the time is yet to be finalised,” he added.

The idea was floated earlier this month by Ali Larjani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and was later accepted by Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad despite his own sense of “distrust” of the United States. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said last week she was “quite certain” that US officials would hold direct talks with Iran on the turmoil in Iraq.

3. Most likely your are right.
I mean, how would it look, after all the Iran bashing? Not to mention admitting how fucked up things are in Iraq.

4. I am thinking that Russia and China may have a lot
more to say about it if it gets that far....they get a large % of their oil from Iran....

* has already pissed on Putin every chance he gets...Russia and China will not let the * cabal interfere with their business...without retaliating...

5. Oh, I'm skeptical about the war in Iran coming off as planned.
I mean, I know some of the Bushites want to do it, but you don't always get what you want, eh?

What I mean is I don't expect the talks to start next week (although you never know, these guys fly by the seat of their pants.)

6. The US has its head caught in the vice.....
They say that politics is like playing a game of pool....

You hit one ball, and inadvertently you've hit another one, which bounces off two others, which causes three more to careen against each other, and suddenly you've got many unintended events.

US: your 8-ball just went down the side pocket.

I can't see the US being able to make very much progress in this situation. Iraq is allying itself with Iran. Iraq's grand ayatollah Al-Sistani is Iranian.

Al-Sadr has promised that if the US attacks Iran, the Iraqis will rise up against the Americans in Iraq. Meanwhile, Iran has made multiple agreements with Russia, India and I believe China (?). These countries will not allow the US to attack.

Sorry Cheney, you are out of your league here. Turn left and see the 'EXIT' sign. Good-bye.
