LITTLE ROCK — Attorney General Mike Beebe said Thursday that his office is investigating a Michigan company that sold 218 defective bulletproof vests to the state police earlier this year.
The Central Lake, Mich.-based Second Chance Body Armor, which sold the vests to numerous police agencies through a Justice Department grant program, also is being investigated by the U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft’s office.
Beebe said his office is investigating Second Chance for possible violations of the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and asking the company to issue a full refund to the state police.
