NASCAR: Dateline NBC's Plan 'Outrageous'
http://www.newsday.com/sports/motorracing/sns-ap-car-nascar-dateline,0,1658412.story?coll=sns-motorracing-headlines

By JENNA FRYER
AP Motorsports Writer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR said it was "outrageous" that "Dateline NBC" targeted one of its race tracks last weekend for a possible segment on anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States.

NASCAR said NBC confirmed it was sending Muslim-looking men to a race, along with a camera crew to film fans' reactions. The NBC crew was "apparently on site in Martinsville, Va., walked around and no one bothered them," NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Wednesday.

"It is outrageous that a news organization of NBC's stature would stoop to the level of going out to create news instead of reporting news," Poston said.

"Any legitimate journalist in America should be embarrassed by this stunt. The obvious intent by NBC was to evoke reaction, and we are confident our fans won't take the bait," he said.

1. The list of "legitimate journalists"
btw, is a very short one. They meet in a phone booth. As a Democrat and NASCAR fan, I think I'm upset about this. :)

4. As another NASCAR fan
so am I.

If NBC wants to get a rise out of NASCAR fans, they should put a Muslim driver behind the wheel of a car and have him slam Dale Jr. into the wall. That should do it.

Like NASCAR doesn't get a bad enough rap as it is? Although, I was quite over all the fuss they were making about Bill Lester a couple of weeks ago.

3. That does seem a bit ridiculous for NBC
I'm sure this is how the event went...

NASCAR fans sitting in a circle watching the group walk through....

Hey Hank - look at them Aye-rabs...
Hank: - look at the chick with the camera with them - see if you can get her to show her t_ts....

5. GE we bring good things to life.......
NBC is owned by one of the major powers of the military industrial complex.

Nothing like a good Psy-ops operation to catapult propaganda, diversion, hatred and mistrust.

10. How dare they!
Racists should commit racism without worrying about someone looking over their shoulders, what the hell is this world coming to.

I blame those damn "everyone is equal" LIBERALS!!!!

11. I think it could be a good piece
It probably isn't, but I think any opportunity to expose racism anywhere is a good thing.

My PR experience tells me, however, NASCAR wouldn't have gotten out in front of the story if the fans hadn't "taken the bait."

16. If there is no reaction, I want them to report that. A little positive
reporting about the American people may not hurt. Maybe a bit of self examination by NBC for trying to reinforce stereotypes is in order.

rigging up a pickup truck to go up in flames.
