Skilling Says He's 'Absolutely Innocent'
HOUSTON - Former Enron Corp. Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling declared he was "absolutely innocent" Monday as he began to testify in his own defense in his fraud and conspiracy trial.

The 52-year-old one-time corporate celebrity whose reputation as a business wunderkind shattered along with the company he once ran also said he "never ... not once" considered making a deal with prosecutors the way more than a dozen other Enron executives did.

"I will fight those charges until the day I die," Skilling said.

4. Interesting. After Enron melted,
many officials had to testify before congress. Every one of them, including Ken Lay, invoked the 5th amendment. They shut up like clams.

Skilling, on the other hand, testified for about 2 hours (?). He kept saying he was innocent, he had nothing to do with it etc etc. He did reveal that he walked away with about $400 million dollars, but "I'm not sure I'll have any of it left after legal fees".

He's as crooked as a dog's hind leg.

5. They all say that
Right up to the point to where they either make a plea bargain or are marched off to prison.

6. Innocent IS BY DEFINITION an absolute.
You can't be a "little bit innocent" anymore than you can be a "little bit pregnant."

WHERE did this doofus go to college anyway? Was Bush his "study buddy?"

10. Skilling is right up there in the same class with this mobster
government.

What was that Titanic joke that Skilling use to tell? Is this it, or did I screw it up? "The difference between California and the Titanic is that the Titanic went down with it's light on."

7. "Absolutely innocent" from a universal perspective
Forces beyond his control conspired to make him the thief he became.

8. A Kathleen Harris moment?
Bold talk from someone who decided his way out was going to be as a scapegoat or stool pigeon. Now he's cooing absolutes because he must be fairly certain the others(praying daily for a Bush pardon) are committed to silence and not returning Skillings' favors.

Either he protests too much or he's testing the waters to make sure his strategy will not be impeded even if he rats as much as necessary. It also signals that by eliminating testimony that would make him guilty of ANYTHING the others have not all that much to fear.

A legal strategy, but a bit over the top.

"Until the day I die." (Does not understand who he is messing with or trying desperately to signal he won't turn 100% state's evidence?)

11. or O.J.: "absolutely 100% not guilty"
As usual, answers which are longer than necessary means they are lies.
