Laura Bush Says Iraq War Necessary
LONDON -- The decision to take military action against Iraq was "wrenching," but was done to protect the security of the United States, first lady Laura Bush said in comments from a television interview released Sunday.

The first lady, speaking before her state visit to Britain this week with President Bush, also said the U.S. anti-terrorism campaign will be long and difficult, but is needed to protect national security, the British station ITV said.

In transcript excerpts released by ITV before Monday's broadcast, Bush defended the decision to go to war against Saddam Hussein's regime.

"It is by far, the most difficult decision and it's a wrenching decision. To hear of the injuries and the deaths of American soldiers or any allied soldiers is wrenching," Mrs. Bush was quoted as saying.

1. If its soooo wrenching, then why
can't the Bushes actually be human and show some emotion, visit some funerals, let the rest of America see what's going on?

39. What will be wrenching will be...
history's view of your husband's administration. History will not be kind to the neo-cons, except for the spin they write.

3. "To hear of the injuries and the deaths" is so "wrenching."
The deaths, the families' suffering, the nation's suffering doesn't mean a thing to the selected American royalty. George and Laura have had a fabulous few years. But this negative "news" really should not reach them and trouble their pretty minds. It's just so... "wrenching."

...I'm really looking forward to staying in Buckingham Palace. It's a huge thrill, it really is," she added. "We're both very excited about the visit and we're very, very honored by Her Majesty's invitation for us to come."

5. 'Scuse me...what the fuck does Pickles know about security??
I mean here is a poor woman who has basically been consigned to sweeping porches, making cookies and holding childrens books during her husbands purloined term - and now we're supposed to give a flying shit about what she thinks about foreign policy?

I'm gonna hurl.

12. I care about Laura's position on war
As much as I care about Barbara Bush's opinion on the Democratic candidates. Which is zero, zilch, nada, nil, a big fat 0. Neither's opinion counts for sh*t because neither of them are worth even hearing about or from.

16. laura "the expert" bush? is bushco running out of trustable faces to
spread their lies?

national security is a matter of defense. not invasion and forcible nation-building.

there are thousands more terrorists in the world today, with their numbers growing at an unprecedented rate as a result of bushco's stupidity and cronyism. these guys think they can kill hornets with a shotgun, and they've gone off and tried it without putting the screens on the windows back t'home.

17. The frumpish one speakth

Mrs. Bush:
Hello, I'm Laura Bush and I want to thank everyone for writing in with their questions and their comments. While most of them weren't suitable for printing – and a few are now with the Secret Service – I did find a handful that will serve as suitable segues into my pre-prepared answers. So let's begin!

With pickles' vast experience and knowledge of foreign policy she has settled the whole issue. It looks like she, as her husband, has a "moral clarity" that puts us in our places.

Jeez...do I feel ashamed.

35. ALL the Bushes have weighed in on this now
So.......it must be true. A letter-writer in our paper today chided all of us who have been writing letters against Bush as being disrespectful of his office. He called us "whiners" who just can't see the good being done by our president.

40. what is she tallking about?
She already has been to see the Queen-has she not? I did read where Jenna showed up in denim for luncheon with the Queen when Laura was there and got seated in the basement or something because of her ignorance and perhaps even contempt--and then Laura did go there with a practiced sad looking face that was all dreary and sad for the Queen Mum's funeral-it's not like she has never been there before. Geez she is really a dull nothing.

It has occured to me--this frump loves all of this attention treating her as if she has made some unique contribution to the world by being the wife of a warmonger AWOL cowardly unelected, lying bastard like George--but do we ever see her repaying the honors? Does she think it is courteous to do the same? When was the last time she put on a formal dinner to honor some foreign dignitary? They all go to the ranch and sit around the porch eating bbq chicken and steak, but she never does anyone the honor such as they have bestowed upon her in her travels and trips around Europe to "shop and eat". Crass, rude, ill bred--the whole family of them.
