Allies split over Iraq pull-out
http://www.news.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=1266582003

Sun 16 Nov 2003

CRISIS talks will be held between Tony Blair and George Bush this week amid fears the US could "cut and run" from Iraq, leaving a political and humanitarian disaster in its wake.

<snip>

The British had been expecting to maintain their present 9,900-strong force in Southern Iraq intact for at least another year, but American administration officials have now admitted that the US military presence could be dramatically scaled back within months.

One minister admitted "nobody is quite sure what the White House is up to" as a US official said the political settlement would "naturally" accompany a slashing of its military presence to as little as a 10th of the current total of 130,000.

<snip>

Bush’s controversial trip has already threatened to inflict political damage on the Prime Minister, but it emerged last night that Blair has laid extraordinary secret plans to defy intense political criticism and heightened security fears by allowing Bush to speak in Parliament during his visit. Downing Street has warned senior MPs in charge of scheduling daily business in the House of Commons to prepare to “clear the decks” in preparation for a presidential visit on Wednesday.

So didn't anyone bother to tell Tony that it's an election year coming up? Of course, W is going to cut and run, that's what he's always done. Besides now that the oil fields are under US control, W could care less about what happens to the Iraqi people. Re-selection is far more important than making life better for the Iraqis.

BTW: It seems that the idiot-in-chief is going to speak to Parliment after all. Oh boy, I can't wait.

1. Amazing how a weekend can turn this into a CRISIS
Edited on Sun Nov-16-03 03:34 AM by SilasSoule
The IRAQI resistance gets a two-fer on U.S. Blackhawks, blows up a rail line that de-rails an American troop supply train. Their reaching for shit distraction of the BS memo about IRAQ/AL-QAEDA links is being dubunked the DoD.

Cut and Run?? - A couple more incidents and it looks they move in that direction.

2. This is all bullshit twisted inside and out and back again......
Sure......spend the dem primary season saying "mission almost accomplished"......what the heck...it could even oust clark and dean from the running, which would be great for bush.

And what the heck......come june.....there will be an overriding reason to not pull out.....or at least to keep sending billions for Chalabi to set up his kingdom.

I was soooooo pleased to watch SNL's opening sketch....with bush explaining how we are installing a dictator in Iraq (Chalabi). I am sooo relieved that someone out there SEES that this whole exercise was designed to get oil and to put a 'friendly' dictator in Iraq.

The USA is evil, evil, evil!
