BBC (Sunday): US turns heat on Iraq insurgents
From the BBC Online
Dated Sunday November 16 15:57 GMT (7:57 am PST)

US turns heat on Iraq insurgents

The US has launched a new operation against insurgents in Iraq, backed by hi-tech missiles, fighter jets and attack helicopters.
US forces fired a satellite-guided missile at a "guerrilla camp" for the first time since major combat ended, as part of Operation Ivy Cyclone Two.
The operation is targeting insurgents in north-central Iraq.
It comes after at least 17 Coalition troops died when two Black Hawk helicopters were downed in Mosul.
Lieutenant-Colonel Bill Macdonald, spokesman for the 4th Infantry Division base in Tikrit, said the operation marked a "more aggressive" approach in the region.

When do the search and destroy missions begin? Don't you just love the way we're winning the hearts and minds of the people? And now they have an exit strategy. I guess they see the light at the end of the tunnel.

1. Hey, this is the 21st century
and you search and destroy using hi-tech missiles, fighter jets and attack helicopters.

I see the US withdrawing to their bases and going out less and less to populated areas.. Less exposure to Iraq's wanting to killed them..

9. US withdrawing to their bases ....not a good sign

And what will they do at their bases, hide? That just makes them sitting targets. Every mortar crew in iraq will have them targetted permanently, raining mortar shells on them 24/7.

Want to bet King George the Bungler will cut and run by summer? He's gonna leave iraq permanently fucked up. The man could break a crowbar.

17. an insult to crows, they are extremely intelligent creatures and
do not exclusively live off of "road kill", unlike this buzzard specimen you have pictured.

4. I found it ironic
that iron hammer was supposed to quash the resistance, then they lost 2 copters etc..

I assume this will be equally "successful".

5. New name, "Operation Ivy Cyclone Two"
Iraqis have also been killed in substantial numbers, with one recent estimate putting the number of deaths at more than 200 since May.

Lieutenant-Colonel Macdonald said the guided missile - with a 500 pound warhead - was fired from a mobile launch pad just north of Baghdad on Sunday.

He said it hit a guerrilla training centre on an island on the Little Zab river west of the city of Kirkuk.

"We have some determined opponents. Particularly the international terrorists who have been coming into the country in the last four or five months," he told Fox television.

"But if you look at the polls here... they tell us that a large majority of the Iraqi people want American coalition forces to stay here until the place is stabilized," Mr Bremer said.

Begin rant:
More than 200, well I guess that's not a lie, I'm thinking a helluvalot more than 200.
500 pound warhead missle at an island?
Oh, looky Bremer is once again saying foreign terrorists
Polls, but Shrub pays no attention to polls?

7. Ivy Cyclone Two!??!! Let's try that again.
What... is there some sort of online Mission Name Generator that they plugged into? What the hell does "Ivy Cyclone Two" mean??

Next time, they should try the Hobbit Name Generator.

I just plugged in George Bush to the generator, and here's what I got back:

"Squinty of Simpleton." Hahahahahaha!!

Don Rumsfeld yields "Drogo Brambleburr of Bindbale Wood;" Condoleeza Rice yields "Rosie-Posie Brambleburr of Bindbale Wood;" while Paul Wolfowitz begets "Hambut Sackville-Baggins." Put it all together, and I have a new name for our next Iraq Mission:

"Operation Rosie Squinty Brambleburr Hambut Simpleton of the Wood."

Hey, it makes more sense than freakin' "Ivy Cyclone Two."

6. It's only a matter of time...
before the international media exposes "Iron Hammer" or whatever for what it really is: just a political stunt. It's just so the Bush administration can give our propaganda media machine a piece of good news everyday: a blown up building, laser rockets hitting what probably are Kurdish training camps (just my little theory, that the Kurds are now against us too, they had an altercation with US troops a week ago today, little reported on).

12. Operation We Are Fucking Fucked Up Soon To Follow
Ivy Cyclone Two just gave a few of the Iraqis an ass rash shaped like a large system of winds that rotates around a center of low barometric pressure, moving counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern, and usually producing destructive storms.

We wanted more death and destruction but sadly the Iraqis just got ass burns and we got the brunt of the destruction. Operation We Are Fucking Fucked Up looks more promising.

Roses and Rice and I mean a fucking ton of both is sure to follow.

13. I like this quote from Bremer, must have got it from Chalabi....
"Paul Bremer also told US television that a new Iraqi government - once it assumes power - would keep US troops in the country.

"I'm sure the Iraqi Government is going to want to continue to have coalition forces here for its own security for some time to come," he said on ABC's This Week programme."

18. I watched an example of US soldiers in action
on Reuters video today and if that is how your soldiers are trained no wonder they are hated.
