UK Police Reverse Ban on Anti-Bush Protesters
"the police are set to make a dramatic U-turn and allow more than 100,000 anti-Bush protesters to march past Downing Street and Parliament this week, in a major concession to avoid violent clashes with hardline activists. . .The Metropolitan police last week banned Thursday's Stop the War Coalition (SWC) march from Whitehall, partly because of security fears that al-Qa'ida terrorists could use the march as cover for an attack and partly because of demands for tight security by the White House."

33. Why do you keep making statements like that?
This is the third thread on which I've seen you warning about the British protests turning nasty. Nobody else is saying those things. I have to wonder whether you know something the rest of us don't, you're excessively nervous about potentially violent situations, or you have an agenda. Would you be willing to tell us which it is?

19. The Queen is not pleased
The deteriorating relationship between the Palace and the President's security men has infuriated the Queen. When it is all over, a mighty row with the Prime Minister is on the cards.

"The Queen is annoyed to be the one having to turn down so many of the White House's requests," said a Buckingham Palace official. "Downing Street's attitude is that this is something that should be resolved between the Palace and the White House. But the fact is that the Queen is being left to negotiate a political minefield pretty much on her own.

16. May he and the first lump-o-frump suffer embarrassment
over and over and over as they see the exposed bums, and the puppets and the signs-may he want to eat his righteous words and may he suffer from jet lag the entire time. May they look like the assholes they are. May he and the first, "wrenching" frumplump, and the entourage of seven or more hundred people, be laughed off the streets of London for three entire days.

Ironic that we are cheerleading the Brits in their bold demonstrations of their right to free speech ,as if we can enjoy freedom of speech vicariously, while we here, in this country, that rebelled against the Brits in order to establish this free country, are stifled and our rights are restricted, and we as a nation seem to be going down the road to a failed imperialism and a disintegrating , corrupt form of government that enjoys barbarism, warmongering, lies and murders of civilians it has "conquored" in it's capitalism, gone amok, quest.

After the twit came out and said he wasn’t worried about potential protests, after all, that’s what freedom is about. So, lets have one for the books, do it big…do it real big Briton

18. Hooray for the British!
Right now, England is my favorite country. I love their tea (I'm drinking some Tetley Tea to celebrate), their orange marmalade is to die for, and their cookies & woolen fabrics are the best.

And now, they have been given this fabulous opportunity to show how they really feel, it looks like they're gonna go for it. May their chants reverberate across the city and penetrate the windows of his limousine, and may the streets fill with millions of protesters!

27. Britain is more than England guys.
Britain includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I may be being touchy or pedantic but the non-english Brits hate being called english. - and they will be participating in the protests.

Sorry guys - had to get that off my chest.

23. This really makes clear what a mammoth coward the Chimp is.
It is everywhere; he can’t even finish Iraq because it might hurt him politically. He doesn’t want to sleep in Buckingham Palace without sissy remodeling, Black Hawks. The man is a coward to his soul; could you imagine ANY of his predecessors acting like such a little girl? It is pathetic,

26. I think that allowing the crowd's voice to be heard
is a good way to release the tension of the situation. I only think real violence might start up if the crowd feels as if they are being silenced or oppressed. As long as they know they are being heard, they should be peaceful.

If NYPD bottles up demonstrations next year at Bush's 9/11 WTC public relations extravaganza/nomination convention, it will only make things worse.
