Bush calls for justice over Hariri assassination (Reuters)
(What is this, the "throw it at the wall and see if it sticks" theory of governing? Does he REALLY thing the Lebanese people won't see this for the pandering it is?)

Bush calls for justice over Hariri assassination

Tue Apr 18, 2006 01:40 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush says he wanted to see justice done in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri, after talks on Tuesday with Lebanon's current prime minister.

In a show of support for Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, who is a member of Lebanon's anti-Syrian majority coalition, Bush also cited the country as an example of the type of democratic change he wants to see in the Middle East. A U.N. investigation has implicated senior Syrian security officials in Hariri's killing in February 2005. Syria denied involvement but has been facing U.S.-led efforts to isolate it.

"We talked about the need to make sure that there is a full investigation on the death of former Prime Minister Hariri. And we'll work with the international community to see that justice is done," Bush told reporters after his talks with Siniora in the Oval Office.

Hariri and 22 others were killed in a February 14, 2005, truck bombing in Beirut that U.N. investigators concluded could not have been carried out without the approval of top-ranked Syrian security officials, working with their Lebanese counterparts.

3. Gobbels demanded the truth about a lot of things.
And he used the truth in a lot of his propaganda to lend it credibility.. he envied how American and British propaganda seemed not to require any, and people still believed it. At least so I've read. The period I'd read about for this was prior to 1939 and stricter war censorship when Gobbels had to compete in the "war of ideas" with foreign, often Jewish-owned sources regularly.

If you've got a problem with Bush calling for justice, do better. I submit I think Gobbels was more effective, but Bush wins points for calling for this kind of justice from certain quarters. If you don't like it, don't begrudge the method, begrudge the speaker and the results. And get your own methods and results.

4. I begrudge both of them, and their methods and results.
Goebbels did write about about the important distinction between propaganda for the masses and indoctrination for the Party initiates.

But, I'm not their target audience. So, Joseph and Dubya can just stuff it.

8. Reminds me of the Nazis saying they were innocent at Nuremberg
Bush is a disgusting creature who, were it not for his family name, would be incarcerated for drugs or committed to a mental institution.

5. There's something funny about this -
Methinks the Man protests too much.

Why does the US make such a big deal about this? They have consistently tried to pin this assassination on Syria.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear somebody was involved.......

7. Why is Bush not calling for justice for airliner bomber Posada Carriles?
Cuban-born Luis Posada Carriles is a naturalized Venezuelan citizen, a terrorist that Bush have granted sanctuary in the US despite efforts by the government of Venezuela to have him extradited to face justice for the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner in Caracas. Why doesn't Bush extradite Posada Carriles to Venezuela? Why does Bush provide aid and comfort to terrorists? Why is Bush protecting criminals?

How about shutting down the School of the Americas at Fort Benning if Bush is so hung up on stopping terrorism?

Venezuela ups extradition demand

The Venezuelan government says it has provided the US with key information on the role of a former CIA agent in the downing of a Cuban airliner.
Venezuela is seeking the extradition of Cuban-born Luis Posada Carriles, who is currently in jail in the US.

The new documents purportedly prove his role in masterminding the 1976 bombing in which 73 people died.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is accusing the US of double standards in its fight against terrorism.

Mr Posada Carriles is now a Venezuelan citizen.
