Emerson (R-Mo) puzzled how obscenity appeared in letter to constituent
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/local/14380085.htm

SAM HANANEL
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Nobody expects to get a letter from a member of Congress that ends with an expletive.

But that's what happened when Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., recently corresponded with a resident of her southeast Missouri district. The letter ended with a profane, seven-letter insult beginning with the letter a - "i think you're an ..."

Emerson says she can't explain how the offensive language made it into the last line of the letter, which otherwise reads like a typical response to a citizen's question about last year's testimony of oil executives before the Senate Commerce Committee.

"There is no excuse for this inappropriate letter having been sent, and every apology has been made to the individual who received it," Emerson said in a written statement to The Associated Press.

3. Whatd'ya think...
Chances are she may well have dictated the letter onto tape, and added the I think you're an asshole comment at the end (like so many of us do, under our breath, when we deal with those we find distasteful)...and then an underling (or in this case an evil minion, because they are Repukes) typed out the letter, and added the line thinking it should be there.

I tell ya, good help is so hard to find.

18. Good point. She was just being factual.
And when I use similar language directed at someone, I'm just being observant. Not malicious.

12. Dragon Naturally Speaking
I'll bet he was using voice recognition to type the letter. That's the only reason I can think of. He probably has a foul mouth to begin with...dangerous with speaking software.

By the way, that voice recognition software is superb now. As fast as you talk it types and it takes only a few minutes for the basic level of training. Scary stuff, really.

14. Good to know...
I tried it years ago when I was having terrible problems with my cervical spine; couldn't type because my arms were affected, but had to. The software was useless back then. There was a money-back guarantee which the company never honored.
