POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- Howard Dean extended his double-digit lead over rival John Kerry among likely voters in New Hampshire's Democratic presidential primary, according to a poll that showed Wesley Clark losing ground.

Dean, the former Vermont governor, was favored by 39 percent of Democrats and independents planning to vote in the Jan. 27 primary and Kerry, the Massachusetts senator, had the backing of 23 percent in the poll by Marist College's Institute for Public Opinion. The survey was conducted Nov. 11-13; the results were released Monday.

The other candidates were in single digits and 14 percent were undecided.

In a September poll from the Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,-based pollsters, Dean led Kerry, 35-22 percent, with Clark at 11 percent. In the latest poll, Clark's support had dropped to 4 percent even though he abandoned Iowa to focus on New Hampshire and other early voting states.

1. Why is Clark losing ground in NH?
Is it because he started late?

7. That's part of it, I feel

(Disclaimer: Clark is in the anti-war camp, so I would happily vote for him. This is not a bash.)

What I've heard around and in the news off to the sides is this: Clark brought in too many outsiders who weren't involved with the grassroots movement to draft him, and, as a result, his campaign was dealt with a major organizing set-back from which they're still adjusting to at the moment.

But that's only what I've gathered from bits and pieces here and there. I could be totally wrong.

4. and this too
Dean can't lead Kerry in the primary when the primary hasn't been held yet.
He leads in those likely to vote in the primary. The headline has got it wrong.

caveat-- I am a Dean supporter, but the headline still bugs me.

5. That's about the 3rd time I've seen Democrat
used instead of democratic. Might even have seen an article about it. Is this another repug word game-lets avoid the word democratic and certainly not let our opposition claim to be?? Tin foil hat on....

6. Yes it is, and you don't need a tinfoil hat.
It started under Reagan.

9. No they couldn't -- they are part of Goebbels v2.0
I have come to the conclusion that AP is heavily infiltrated by Busheviks, many in the editorial/managerial ranks.

So often the semantics/linguistics of AP artciels read like a psycholinguists wet dream.

Democrats "Ferociously counterprogram"
Republicans "barnstorm"

It makes sense that Operation Mockingbird and the Right-Wing Sub-Media would choose to strike first at AP because they are the "first reporter" of so many items and their pyshcoengineered weasel-words (remember Newt's "contrasting words" list?) are delivered to thousands of small newspapers and millions of Amerikan when their Bushevik editors "Prudenize" copy to give Republicans the most psychologically favorable terminology while doing the opposite to the Democrats.

So it is not surprising to see them (and they have done in dozens of times that I've read) on board with the "Democrat" slur (which is in the same family of slurs as "Jew Lawyer" instead of "Jew Lawyer").

AP is infiltrated badly with Bushevik editors, IMHO.

12. Not in my opinion.
I would say its pretty low, but they have been hammering NH for a while now. I'd have to say most states would have a much higher undecided.

If Dean can take a few, putting him over 40%, I think he will be in good shape.
