Remains Uncovered in Said Dean Burial Site (Charlie Dean)
"WASHINGTON Nov. 18 — The Pentagon said Tuesday that it has uncovered remains from the site in Laos where Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean's younger brother was believed to have been killed nearly 30 years ago.

The remains have not been identified, but are being shipped to Hawaii, said Larry Greer, spokesman for the Pentagon office in charge of POW and MIA issues.<p>Charles Dean was a 24-year-old graduate of the University of North Carolina when he and a companion, Neil Sharman of Australia, were arrested in Laos by the communist Pathet Lao that was fighting a U.S.-supported government.

The two were detained Sept. 4, 1974, while traveling down the Mekong River, and held in a small, remote prison camp for a few months before being killed. They apparently were suspected of being spies, although the U.S. and Australian governments said they were merely tourists and strongly protested their detention.

we had NO business in Laos. In fact, I believe officially, we never were in Laos.

2. Dean's brother was.
How ironic. Here they finally recover these remains and now we're doing another Viet Nam in Iraq.

5. Maybe Charles' spirit said it was time to come home and help his older
brother defeat the worse and most dangerous President this nation has ever had.

6. We can only hope! It is ironic, no?
I posted this article because the other one has some pretty outrageous information about Dean's father's being John Dean of Watergate fame--I didn't trust it at first.

Pentagon Has Uncovered Remains From Suspected Burial Site of Howard Dean's Brother

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon said Tuesday it has uncovered remains from the site in Laos where Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean's younger brother was believed to have been killed nearly 30 years ago.
The remains have not been officially identified, but were uncovered in a grave along with some of Charles Dean's personal items, said Howard Dean's campaign spokeswoman, Tricia Enright.

The candidate was notified of the discovery a few days ago, Enright said.

Charles Dean was a 24-year-old graduate of the University of North Carolina traveling the world when he and a companion, Neil Sharman of Australia, were arrested in Laos by the communist Pathet Lao.
