14. LINK to reuters story
Here

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Police searched pop star Michael Jackson's opulent Neverland Ranch, near Santa Barbara, on Tuesday after authorities issued a search warrant related to a criminal investigation, a police spokesman said.

While police did not specify the nature of the investigation, the cable channel Court TV said the search warrant stemmed from allegations of sexual abuse brought by a 12-year-old boy against the self-styled King of Pop.

35. Greed, greed, greed
It's sickening to think how many parents have sold their children's safety, dazzled by Jackson's money. And if these charges stick, we're going to hear a chorus of "How terrible! Who knew?" from all quarters. For god's sake, who DIDN'T know?

Jackson is a psychological mess, but what is everybody else's excuse?

41. I don't even have children...
... but I've been amazed at the parents who would allow their children anywhere near the man.

I feel very sorry for him because I think he is psychologically tormented and completely dysfunctional. But he's the last person on earth I would want near my children. Even if he isn't an overt sexual predator, his self-image is so distorted that I think he's a terrible role model. He needs serious counseling, not little playmates who spend the night.

He's a fucking pedophile. What is tragic is the fact that he has been able to prey on children (with parental support) for so long.

It doesn't matter how rich or talented or fucking weird someone is, when they are a pedophile, you put them in jail.

Since when is child molestation a political issue?

Finally, some kid is blessed with parents who can't be bought off. Or maybe Jackson doesn't have enough money left to buy a family off anymore. Either way, it's about time Jackson was stopped.

A new album of Jackson's "Greatest Hits" was also released today. The raid could have been planned to coincide with THAT, also.

(not that I'm saying there wasn't necisarily something higher up delaying the raid... just that this would be a real slap in jackson's face)

43. The industry buzz is that Michael is still addicted to narcotics...
...and has a huge habit requiring him to stay in Europe most of the time in order to get his drugs easier. Howard Hughes did the same thing to support his codeine habit. He stayed in foreign countries where doctors would prescribe narcotics willy-nilly or even better, where codeine is legal without a prescription.
I even read where Michael's European doctors administer IV Dilaudid to him on a daily basis. No wonder he has been so reclusive these last few years. I hope Ms. Taylor keeps hammering him to get into a detox.

It's sad. He will soon end up like Elvis if he doesn't stop.

I'm sure Bush knew about this as his jet took off today and was grinning with joy. Probably looked at his watch and said, "Laura, just about now the media will become focused on something other than my trip to the U.K."

Did anyone notice how little of the Italian national mourning was shown here in the U.S.?

65. I think it's ...
ridiculous to call this a "distraction". He's one of the most famous men in the world, on the verge of being arrested for child molestation. That is newsworthy.

I don't believe the local police involved scheduled this around Bush's visit to England, or any other political event.

yes, this story will be covered. Heavily. Anybody who thinks celebrity scandal coverage is a new thing don't know shit about the history of journalism.

Personally, I hope they nail the bastard, and I hope they go after the idiot parents who let their children be around him. He's been paying them off for years, and it's disgusting.

I was a big fan of his for years. I think he's an incredible talent. But we've known for over 10 years now that he's a pedophile and he's gotten away with it, to the great shame of our law enforcement community as well as the general public.

You'll find few people more liberal than me when it comes to letting people live their sex lives the way they wish: provided everybody involved is a consenting adult. Jackson deserves many, many years in a small cell.

67. Even without sexual misconduct...
...Jackson's behavior has been emotionally abusive.

Over the years, he's established the same pattern: showering gifts and attention of incredible magnitude on some 11-12 year old boy, an all-expenses-paid trip into a fantasy land of entertainment. Then, when the boy enters puberty, Michael drops him like a hot potato and goes off in search of a new Peter Pan playmate.

This is exploitation. Whether or not Jackson actually engages in physical contact that is sexual in nature, he nonetheless seduces the child on an emotional level. It's hard enough for an adult to handle rejection, but kids shouldn't have to be subjected to that kind of abandonment. It's damaging -- it destroys trust and self-confidence because the only thing the boys did "wrong" was to grow up.

If, in addition to this emotional abuse, Jackson also preyed on them sexually, then the damage is all the greater. But no way, no how can you say that his trysts with pretty little boys of only a certain age are harmless.

68. according to some sources, whoever they are, he gets them
drunk and molests them.

Pedophiles can't be rehabilitated. His statements read like a
classic self-justifying pedophile. I worry about those little
kids. Many pedophiles marry someone with young kids or have
their own to have a child to molest over the course of years.
I hope that isn't the case now but it might be.

Also, someone said he has a buzzer in his room that alerts
him if people are coming. How weird is that?

Supposedly 1,000,000 photos and some computers were taken.

Given his weirdness in civil court, this might become an obscene
spectacle with a televised trial.

When that first kid accused him it seemed like it could have been the money and the fact that it's easy to go after the weirdo. But then he KEPT HAVING CHILDREN OVER TO THE RANCH, even after he was accused of molestation. I mean, give me a break. I would think if you were wrongly accused of something like that you wouldn't want to be within a mile of a young boy. But he just kept at it, which made me decide he must be more than a little obsessed.
