Pa. Governor Opens Lead on GOP Challenger (49-35)
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Gov. Ed Rendell has gained ground on Republican challenger Lynn Swann, according to a poll released Thursday, three months after the same researcher found the football legend nipping at the governor's heels.

The statewide poll also found Democrat Bob Casey's lead over incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (news, bio, voting record) had shrunk from double digits in February to 6 percentage points.

Rendell led Swann 49 percent to 35 percent in the latest Keystone Poll, conducted by the Center for Opinion Research at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster. The telephone survey of 578 registered voters had an error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

"I don't think there's any doubt now that the contours of this race have changed," said G. Terry Madonna, the center's director and a professor of public affairs.

1. Swann is a dumbass, literally.
He contradicts himself a lot and often isn't able to answer questions because he just doesn't know. Not the brightest bulb in the box, even if he was an outstanding wide receiver.

It's nice to see the good people in my home state are smart enough to differentiate.

6. Dumb enough to be a Republican
I kinda like Swann's demeanor, but demeanor is unimportant to the quality of governance. He's also not smart enough to be a Democrat nor is he crooked enough to be a real Republican. (At least Der Gropenführer is capable of dissembling with a straight face.)

In addition, "Fast Eddie" Rendell is an excellent governor. If he had a Democratic house and senate, he'd be the Second Coming.

Swann should exit politics and find some line of work where his stronger skills will be appreciated -- and before he's humiliated and shamed himself by associating with the current band of lunatics and brigands any longer.

2. I saw Swann on TV, and he seemed pretty dumb
and I am ot saying that just because he is a republican. He seemed really unqualified and underinformed.

7. Rasmussen gives Casey 51%, Santorum 38% (April 27)
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/April%202006/Pennsylvania%20Senate%20April.htm

Some poll came out recently showing Casey beating Santorum by "only" 6%, and it has had a few DUers wanting to wave the white flag and claim defeat, but I am pretty sure Santorum is going to go away soon.

8. I find it hard to believe that Casey is only 6%. ahead of Ricky.
Casey is very popular and Ricky is not.

9. I'm from PA,
and I can never, in my wildest dreams, imagine the people of that Commonwealth electing an African-American governor.

Interesting place, PA.
