Ahmadinejad sends letter to Bush --BBC
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written to George W Bush proposing "new solutions" to their differences.
The letter will be sent via the Swiss Embassy which represents US interests in Iran, a government spokesman said.

Mr Ahmadinejad proposes "new solutions for getting out of international problems and current fragile situation of the world", the spokesman said.

Reports say it is the first letter from an Iranian president to a US leader since the Iranian revolution in 1979.

1. Somebody should have told Ahmadinejad
that Bush doesn't know how to read.

9. Have you forgotten who started this? Iran was minding their own business
and not bothering anyone. Bush is the instigator.

14. This is true.
Bush wants to make it seem like Iran is the aggressor here. But history shows that Iran has been attacked several times in the past.

In the 50's we installed a creep called the Shah of Iran. He was a complete US-puppet, with his SAVAK-secret police which killed protesters. We have a very ugly history with that country.

7. he can do that anytime
Which makes any agonized spin by the WH a desperately sweaty moment. They will want to characterize something no one has read but if they do... If nothing else this will set some policy makers tossing and turning. If this is a brilliant letter, the response will be tumbling tumbleweeds and suppression of the letter in the news as an issue. Simply loudly dismissing it would seal the administration's phony claims to "diplomacy".

But the arrogant idiot way would be to pick something out of the letter and pre-spin the public's perception of the whole long before they ever(if ever) get to see it. And never ever consider this a way, however temporary, out of their unpopular relentless war timetable.

10. Iran's Leader Writes to President Bush
"TEHRAN, Iran -
Iran's leader has written to
President Bush proposing "new solutions" to their differences in the first letter from an Iranian head of state to an American president in 27 years, a government spokesman said Monday.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki delivered the letter to the Swiss ambassador on Monday, ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told The Associated Press. The Swiss Embassy in Tehran houses a U.S. interests section.

In the letter, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad proposes "new solutions for getting out of international problems and the current fragile situation of the world," spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham told a news conference."

11. Yikes! Great minds eh! Sorry.
What a way to post a first topic on here.
In any event, I said it before and I'll say it again,I think this is really good news! It shows that Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is NOT the jihad nutcase the administration is making him out to be.
