Skepticism Greets Bush on Trip to London
By Dana Milbank and Glenn Frankel
Wednesday, November 19, 2003; Page A20

LONDON, Nov. 18 -- President Bush arrived here Tuesday night for a four-day state visit with plans to tell skeptical Europeans that they must join the United States in spreading democracy, by force if necessary.

(snip)

Bush, in his speech at the government's Banqueting House -- the scene of the execution in 1649 of King Charles I -- will talk about the benefits of "effective multilateralism," the aide who briefed reporters on Air Force One said, adding that Bush will acknowledge that democracy cannot be imposed solely "out of the barrel of a gun."

(snip)

Several thousand protesters packed the Friends Meeting House in central London to hear playwright Harold Pinter pour invective on Bush and Blair. "They are both liars, they are both God-fearing Christians and they are both murderers," Pinter told a roaring crowd, adding that "the United States more and more resembles Nazi Germany in its ambitions. . . . It aspires to total control of the world."

1. WOW
Go Harold Pinter!!

There's no point in my even commenting on the 'barrel of a gun' analogy. But I can't resist - force and violence are the only 'tools' Repukes have. Certainly the only ones they use. Well, in addition to blackmail, threats, spying, etc. etc. etc.

2. "Spreading democracy by force if necessary..."
:wtf:

The US has lost its way. Since when did 9/11 go from a "war on
terror" to a "spreading of democracy by force"...?

6. It's all part of the BFEE and PNAC 'plan'.
These evil folks have been frothing at the mouth and itching to do dastardly deeds. I'm afraid, this is only the beginning.
