NSA Whistleblower To Expose More Unlawful Activity: ‘People…Are Going To Be Shocked’

CongressDaily reports that former NSA staffer Russell Tice will testify to the Senate Armed Services Committee next week that not only do employees at the agency believe the activities they are being asked to perform are unlawful, but that what has been disclosed so far is only the tip of the iceberg. Tice will tell Congress that former NSA head Gen. Michael Hayden, Bush’s nominee to be the next CIA director, oversaw more illegal activity that has yet to be disclosed:

A former intelligence officer for the National Security Agency said Thursday he plans to tell Senate staffers next week that unlawful activity occurred at the agency under the supervision of Gen. Michael Hayden beyond what has been publicly reported, while hinting that it might have involved the illegal use of space-based satellites and systems to spy on U.S. citizens. …

Glaser Safety Slugs are effective because they create a huge wound channel through the creation of huge amounts of hydrostatic shock in the tissues effected. Furthermore, pieces of blue teflon, the material that is the casing for the Glaser Blue, were found in the cound channel, as well as the exact number of shot pellets that are packed and compressed into a Glaser Blue. Any ME that deals with gunshot wounds should be fully up to speed with frangible round technologies. Period.

To look at her initial explanation and to read the autopsy reports(I have...) and not come away with the impression that Cliff Baxter's death was the victim of a coverup by the ME is impossible.

If this report is true, then they'll either get rid of him or paint him as a dangerous lunatic...either way, he'll be an outcast. We sort of know what happens to whistle-blowers, don't we? I am longer surprised at any new revolting horror these evil-doers might be guilty of: the more awful it is...the more likely it is that it's true. Remember when Alberto Gonzales testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee about the warrentless domestic spying program, and he alluded that there might be other programs out there.

Michael Hayden beyond what has been publicly reported, while hinting that it might have involved the illegal use of space-based satellites and systems to spy on U.S. citizens.

Russell Tice, who worked on what are known as "special access programs," has wanted to meet in a closed session with members of Congress and their staff since President Bush announced in December that he had secretly authorized the NSA to eavesdrop on U.S. citizens without a court order. In an interview late Thursday, Tice said the Senate Armed Services Committee finally asked him to meet next week in a secure facility on Capitol Hill.

Tice was fired from the NSA last May. He said he plans to tell the committee staffers the NSA conducted illegal and unconstitutional surveillance of U.S. citizens while he was there with the knowledge of Hayden, who has been nominated to become director of the CIA. Tice said one of his co-workers personally informed Hayden that illegal and unconstitutional activity was occurring.

The Senate Intelligence Committee plans to hold Hayden's confirmation hearing next week. "I think the people I talk to next week are going to be shocked when I tell them what I have to tell them. It's pretty hard to believe," Tice said. "I hope that they'll clean up the abuses and have some oversight into these programs, which doesn't exist right now."

Tice was fired last May after the NSA ordered him to undergo psychological evaluations following a separate clash with agency leadership, and psychologists diagnosed him as being paranoid. Tice claimed the order to undergo the evaluations was retaliation for raising concerns. He also said he saw an independent psychologist who found no evidence that he has a mental disorder.

Hayden, on Capitol Hill Friday visiting with lawmakers, defended the secret surveillance programs he oversaw while head of the NSA as lawful and designed to "preserve the security and the liberty of the American people."

Hayden declined to comment on news reports about the NSA's database on private telephone calls, but spoke about the NSA's work in general terms, the Associated Press reported.

"Everything that the agency has done has been lawful. It's been briefed to the appropriate members of Congress," Hayden told reporters. "The only purpose of the agency's activities is to preserve the security and the liberty of the American people. And I think we've done that," he said.

...The same day The New York Times broke the story of the NSA eavesdropping without warrants, Tice surfaced as a whistleblower in the agency. He told ABC News that he was a source for the Times' reporters. But Tice maintains that his conscience is clear.

"As far as I'm concerned, as long as I don't say anything that's classified, I'm not worried," he said. "We need to clean up the intelligence community. We've had abuses, and they need to be addressed."

The NSA revoked Tice's security clearance in May of last year based on what it called psychological concerns and later dismissed him. Tice calls that bunk and says that's the way the NSA deals with troublemakers and whistleblowers. Today the NSA said it had "no information to provide." ...

Sigh...yes, things are scary and bad indeed here and the saddest part is how few people who call themselves "Americans" even realize what is happening and seem to have no understanding of those very principles our country was founded on and on our Constitution. I often don't know what is more despicable - the cabal in the White House and their enablers who crap on the Constitution, or the people in this country who don't even know their Constitution and its principles and what it means. In my opinion they are equally as bad. Federalist Papers. It should be a prerequisite that students must have studied both the Constitution and the Federalist Papers before they can graduate, imo.

There is an old saying "Either use it or lose it" which I think holds true. I came to know and believe this to be true while being involved in labour negotiations. The bottom line is: If one does not use and safeguard the rights earned, one often loses them. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are contracts with the citizens of the US, not that different from any contract one might negotiate within one's workplace.

The bush cabal is now ripping up that contract without negotiation and the US public, by and large, are unaware of what they are losing.
