Approval of US handling of postwar Iraq is waning: poll (42%)

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/iraq_us_poll

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Support for Washington's handling of Iraq (news - web sites) since President George W. Bush (news - web sites) declared an end to major combat there on May 1 has plummeted, falling to 42 percent from 80 percent in an April 23 poll, according to a new survey.

Fifty-five percent of those polled disapproved of how the United States has handled post-war Iraq, marking the highest negative response to the question since US tanks entered Baghdad in April, USA Today reported.

The survey showed that 56 percent of respondents believed the war was worth it, while only 48 percent believed it made the United States safer, down from 58 percent in the April 23 poll.

Forty-three percent felt the war had actually made the United States less safe from terrorists, up from 33 percent in the April poll.

1. sounds right...
Look, I don't approve of our handling in Iraq either. I think Bush made some sever miscalculations, but I realize pulling out now would be a devastating and embarassing loss to America. But don't worry, Bush will pay for all the brave American soldiers that have been killed next November

4. As opposed to the...
devastating loss the families of U.S. soldiers are facing?

I'm of a firm belief the current attacks would have been seriously minimized if Bush would have turned over the administration of Iraq to the U.N. after the battles had first ended.

It's not too late for Bush to save face and turn Iraq over to the U.N. and a true international peacekeeping force.

2. I was with Shrub when it was "Patient Justice".
Then the "Axis of Evil" crap spewed from his mouth, and I was thinking "WTF?"

Then the run-up to invade Iraq. "Well, the US Gov't must know all about those illegal weapons," I thought. "They kept the receipts."

Then the house of cards began falling down.

Like many 'Muricans, I was behind the CIC when it was a legitimate war. Those days are over for me and a boatload of others that once constituted the 70%.

The number of 'Murkans against going it alone was 60-65% BEFORE the war and as soon as W started this a lot of people starting saying the supported the war. Mostly because they don't want to seen as against the troops, I was never against the troops I was for them that is why I was against the war.
