More Proof of Iraq-Qaeda Link, or Not?
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/20/politics/20MEMO.html?ex=1069909200&en=14a9bfb14c404da3&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE

ASHINGTON, Nov. 19 — Late last month, a top Pentagon official fired off the latest salvo in the politically charged debate about whether there were links between Saddam Hussein's government and the Qaeda terrorist network.

The Oct. 27 memorandum from Douglas J. Feith, under secretary of defense for policy and planning, to the Senate intelligence committee listed 50 points of raw intelligence that, he said, pointed to an operational link between Iraq and Al Qaeda.

The letter itself was highly classified, but its contents were reported over the weekend by The Weekly Standard, a journal with close ties to administration hawks. At a time when Democrats have been crowing about the administration's failure so far to find illicit weapons in Iraq, conservatives have seized on the claim as evidence that, because of its ties to Al Qaeda, Iraq did indeed pose a real danger to the United States.

<snip>

Geez, they should have leaked it to Limbaugh as a welcome home present. I think it would have just as much credence.

3. only info is Iraq's Ani was in Prague & met Germ Arab student
The rest of the stuff is all "so what", except for theloss of the info on Atta's hotel bills in Florida at the time - seems they are no longer in the FBI file - or if you prefer - they were never in the file and the FBI was putting out a lie.

My read is that Bush got caught giving orders to clean the FBI file of the Florida data, so that is the reason he put out the "no connection" statement - so as to prevent any reason for folks to look at it further.

And Fox still does its BS for 2 days! And the Pentagon on Saturday said the Douglas J. Feith memo was BS and that there is no connection. And Fox then continues to PR the Feith memo this week!

If you have a sense of shame or embarrassment, you can not work for the GOP!

:-)

4. George Bush, when pointedly asked if there is a connection
plainly said with the deadest expression on his face:
"There is no connection ."
