Jimmy Carter earns a presidential first (He wrote a novel!)

"The Hornet's Nest," released last Tuesday, weaves the lives of early Americans and the British into a bloody wartime narrative. It is his 18th book.

"It's almost impossible to find this information in one place," Carter said Monday from his home in Plains, Georgia. "Almost all the impressions of the Revolutionary War are confined to Bunker Hill and Paul Revere's ride."

Carter's story follows the paths of Georgia militia leader Elijah Clarke, British commander Thomas Brown and independent frontiersman Ethan Pratt. He paints a South filled with deadly battlegrounds, changing allegiances, Indian massacres, political dissent and undecided colonists.

This guy is amazing, he did all his own research, actually talked to professors, and even painted the cover!!!

1. What is wrong with us?!? We kick out the intellectual....
We fire the ones we can be proud of (or probe into their personal lives in excessive ways.)

Vaclav Havel - playwright, philosopher, dissident, president of the czech Republic.
Mahatmas Ghandi - philosopher, dissident, India.
Nelson Mandala - philosopher, dissident, revolutionary, president of South Africa.

And we kick out the ones who can think.

However, we do have a novelist for a 2nd Lady.... I own Lynne Cheney's sorry excuse for a poorly researched and on the party dime romance novel.

Politicat.
