Ontario to Ban Smoking Provincewide

Dalton McGuinty, the new Premier of Ontario, is starting to make good on some of his election promises - namely those of hiking taxes on tobacco, and banning smoking in indoor public spaces and workplaces provincewide.
It's expected McGuinty, as part of his new govt's throne speech Thursday, will announce the ban. Although smoking restrictions in restaurants, bars and other public spaces have been imposed by many cities, this would be Canada's 1st provincial ban.
McGuinty hopes his proposed tax hike will curb smoking, and prevent the smuggling of cigarettes across provincial borders. At the moment, the lowest cigarette prices in Canada are found in Ontario and Quebec. The price of a carton would increase 50%.

Ergo the mass exodus to Montreal by Ontarians every weekend, could a province be more bland?
