Bin Laden on the Move; New Sightings in Pakistan
Pakistani government sources tell ABC News they have "credible reports" that Osama bin Laden and his entourage have moved down from high mountainous peaks along the Afghan border to a valley area 40 miles inside the Pakistan border.

The officials say the reports put bin Laden around Kohistan's Kumrat Valley.

Officials said the reports were validated by the release of bin Laden's audio tape yesterday, which appears to have been recorded only two weeks earlier.

Such a quick turn-around suggests, say the officials, that bin Laden is much closer to civilization than he had been previously.

3. Any idea what kind of bounce the Bushies would get for pulling
Bin Laden or Zarqawi out of a hat come July or August?

22. Bush got a 7-10 point bounce from the first Iraqi election
and about a 5 point bounce from the final one in December.

You might not know it, but Zarqawi actually is quite well known by the 60% of Americans who pay any real attention to the news. The number of searchs for his name aren't that different then Bin Laden's.

What he isn't known by is the idioic masses that pay little to no attention to the news. Bin Laden however is a name the idiot masses know of as the TV forced them to pay attention to him in the months after 911.

The only time Zarqawi had the number of online searches close to where Bin Laden was at in the months after 911 according to google trends was in the weeks after Nick Berg was beheaded. The beheading of Nick Berg was the most watched video of 2004 according to MSN even beating out the Super Bowl nipple video.

So, yes I do think Zarqawi is a big enough enemy in the eyes of the public to pull Bush up ten points if he was caught. But, Bin Laden is much better known by the idiot masses which would add another 5 to 10 points to Bush's numbers if they catch him.

24. Even if most people missed the story that propaganda exaggerates Zarqawi's
importance, I doubt that he would produce as much of a bump as Saddam's spider hole capture.

The only people who will be impressed will be the knuckledraggers who barely manage to find Fox News on cable.

People of at least average intelligence probably instinctively know Zarqawi's capture will mean nothing, and if they don't, they will quickly figure it out when it has no impact on the isurgency, just like the elections and capture of Saddam.

26. To the insurgency catching Zarqawi doesn't matter much
But, to international terrorism Zarqawi matters far far more then Bin Laden at this point. Who do you think is behind the bombings in Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and other suicide attacks in the region? Zarqawi is in the perfect place for a terrorist. He is at the center of the Middle East where all the jihadists are coming to fight the US and he is sending these people to Jordan, Egypt, Europe and elsewhere to build on his networks for future attacks.

33.  longer this stuff goes on, the more I wonder if terror attacks in other
places isn't just local disgruntled types rather than this disgruntled boogeyman network.

What we have done with al Qaeda is the equivalent of Britain getting hit by the IRA and then deciding that they are at war with all of Catholicism instead of Irish nationalists.

2. In a casket, maybe...
I'm sorry, but I just don't buy it. My feeling is that he's been six feet under for some time now. They can produce all the doctored videotapes they want to - they need to keep the myth of bin Laden alive to continue their raping and pillaging of democracy.

6. Remember how they said they had Zawahairi surrounded awhile back?
This "sighting" allows them to run some meaningless raids on an uninhabited area and then claim that they are really working hard on the war on terror because they had credible intelligence and acted on it, but then he just got away.

Why telegraph your intelligence to the world media, the US media in particular? Especially before any substantial operations had occurred? "Hey Bin-Laden, we see you, yes we do...."

14. Well, I know I'm stupid. I think this sighting has to do w/Bush marriage.
I think the reason George and Laura are splitting up is because she's secretly in love with Osama. So tall, so virile.

21. boy, it's too bad we don't have a way to go up mountains or
look at them from space, or even have some soldiers hike up there.

If I'm ever on the outs with the world's only superpower, I'll have to remember to head for high ground where they can't reach me.

If Hitler had fled Berlin and pitched his tent on the Matterhorn, he might still be alive today.

36. the BOOGEYMAN !!!!
a faked 'bin laden killing' would give 'em a boost that would last about 12 hours. then, the bad guys would retaliate, proving bush hasn't really accomplished a thing. or bin laden would release a video proving he's not actually dead. either way, some bush stunt isn't gonna do 'em any good.
