Breaking CNN: 10 seconds on Dead American Soldier In new Iraq Bomb then
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 04:12 PM by Billy_Pilgrim
Back to Jackson coverage.

Strange priorities.

One soldier wounded as well.

Edited because I'm a lousy typist.

Edited again to ad a link: http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,7932081%255E401,00.html

ONE US soldier was killed and two wounded today when a military convoy was hit by a roadside bomb near the western Iraqi town of Ramadi, a US military spokesman said.

An improvised explosive device of the sort favoured by anti-US insurgents blew up as the convoy passed by east of the town between 2.30 and 3.30pm local time, the spokesman said.

"There was one killed in action and two wounded."

It was the latest in a rash of attacks to target Ramadi since the local US commander, Major General Charles Swannack, on Tuesday hailed a major improvement in security that might allow a US troop pullback by year-end
<snip>

I believe that this is the one. It's getting harder to keep up. Especially now that our people in Iraq aren't newsworthy any more.

Yes, I might poke in at DU and see what is going on, but I don't miss a bit of the "Faking News" coverage.

24. Exactly
You guys seriously need to stop watching that garbage. Just because its on doesn't mean you have to care about it. Don't legitimize it by taking it seriously.

5. My E-Mail To CNN.
I am appalled. On a day when people are being killed in Iraq and Turkey, protesting and being beaten in Miami and protesting triumphantly, by the tens of thousands, in the UK, CNN chooses to cloud Americas collective minds with stories about Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, Robert Blake or Brittany Spears' new image. In these uncertain times, America needs the 4th estate now more than ever before to report real news. Sadly you are leading the way in letting us down. It is getting closer to the point where we cannot come back. Start an entertainment news network if you must but stop passing drivel off as news.

7. Wellsaid, jayfish.
I wish I could say I'm shocked at the priorities of our information services, but after 8 years of propaganda, I'm jaded. This was predictable.

10. They don't care jayfish
they know or should know better than any of us what is going on in the world. The sad thing is they can draw more viewers with sensationalism than hard news. Being owned by the b.f.e.e. is one more thing to keep up the celeb beat, distract distract disttact.

on the "They Don't Care" part and absolutely right on the distraction part, but another voice of dissention buzzing in their ear can't hurt.

6. Sooooo, tellustellustellus . . .
What was Michael's reaction to the soldiers' dying? Don't keep us in suspense!

Hey, didja know Michael did an album called "Thriller"? It came out in the 1980s. His skin also used to be a lot darker. He dances a lot. And he was part of the Jackson 5.

Hold it, I was thinking about something for a second there. Did somebody die? No, wait. Michael Jackson was featured in a Disney ride, "Captain EO." I guess I wasn't thinking about anything after all. Michael did a duet with Paul McCartney. A couple of them.

8. Posts 4 & 5 (Nnnohli & Jayfish) are both spot on.
It's apalling that all three news channels didn't give more than 10 seconds or a crawl for a dead American soldier for fear of missing a single National Enquirer moment of salacious gossip rather than news.

I just love it when he does that. How does he do it? It looks like he's walking forward, but he goes backwards!

A perp-moon-walk!

bad boy, bad boy, watcha gonna do?

by the way, much as I despise Michael Jackson, I do hate to think of what would happen if he were put in the general population of any REAL California prison.....JEEEESAAAAS what a mess that would be.
Luckily for him he's probably rich enough to buy his way into some country club...or get off completely.

15. Today is a particular astounding day in "news."
Thousands protesting in the UK & US, Suicide bombers in Turkey and Iraq, US Soldiers dying in Iraq...

And what does the American news feed the public?

A weirdo doing what he/they said he was going to do yesterday.

This is fucked.

25. We're winning-the Networks are committing suicide
People aren't watching the shows
on TV. Look how many have been
pulled already.

On Jacko-people demand the luxury of
stupidity. Besides, the rich are being
humbled here.

The thing about humans is that you
can only pretend for so long until
you're not pretending anymore.

26. It's getting extra disgusting on the "news" channels
Lately I can't tell the difference between CNN and Court TV. It's insane. I don't think we can in good conscience call them news networks anymore but rather entertainment networks.

And as a side rant, if I have to see one more Britney Spears interview, I'm going to climb a tower and start shooting.
