Kerry camp loses another top staffer
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 04:13 PM by HawkeyeX
WASHINGTON, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- A third member of Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John F. Kerry's presidential campaign staff has resigned, citing personal reasons.

The Boston Globe reported Thursday Kerry spokesman Kelley Benander had left the campaign, becoming the third senior staff member to quit after campaign manager Jim Jordon was fired from his post more than one week ago.

"All three departing officials were close to Jordan," the Globe said.

1. Kerry was right!
Dean is imploding!

I still get a laugh every time I think about him saying that.

2. Well, it shouldn't be long now
Don't get me wrong, I like Kerry. I disagree with him on a few issues, but all-in-all I think he's a solid candidate. But he needs to face facts: his campaign is finished. Bow out gracefully and get on with Senate business.

4. Just what BushInc. hopes for.
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 04:30 PM by blm
Kerry is guilty of putting the best team together to defeat Bush, but not one to go after other Democrats. So, I guess the best team that attacks other Dems may beat out the best manned team to defeat Bush.

I'm glad Kelley is gone. Another weak link.

5. I like Kerry too.
but this does not finish a campaign. This was just one more staffer loyal to Jordan.

10. It's a sign of a much larger problem
He's had three major defections, a big drop in the polls and his campaign has shown no signs of life. Kerry has been unable to generate any enthusiasm for his candidacy. He was the frontrunner, now he's heading south at a rapid pace. I don't think he'll be able to battle back, because I simply don't think it's in him.

19. Part of the problem
is that Kerry hasn't been able to generate any enthusiasm period. Meaning: within himself.

And the only reason he ever was the frontrunner was the assumption of the mantle. It was all a myth, really.

Kerry did something wrong and it looks like it's too late to reverse it.

7. I guess it's all over in that case.
The support of Don Imus is absolutely critical to getting elected President. No one has won without it since Warren Harding. :eyes:

:D......but, in many ways...so true. We are a nation of "spoiled children" and we wait for Rush, Imus, and Faux to decide our President!

OMG......Laughing my guts out here!

12. MAN
This is terrible... Kerry was and is , IMHO, the strongest canidate out there. But this is not good news...I am beginning to doubt whether he can come back.
If he can't , and Dean is the man to receive the nominee, all I can see to Dean supporters is that they had damn well know what they are doing.

15. Who cares if Dean wants to get scrappy with Bush
Bush is really a nobody, and Dean is a person meant for the small pond.

Kerry would make the best president of anyone in the field, and could bring the most crossover voters.

17. Hey, Metrix! Send Kerry your resume!
You said it better than Kelley ever could! Sen. Kerry is the best qualified candidate for President in the entire field. Shoot, he's probably the best qualified person for the job since FDR.

A hearty welcome to DU, too!

18. Why I havent given up on Kerry....
I have been supporting him since he was rumored to be a pick for VP during the last election.

I am disappointed that he isnt leading in all the polls as I see him to be the most qualified and have the best chance to beat bush.

But i havent thrown in the towel yet. Why?

Mainly because 2/3 of democrats cant even name a democrat candidate yet. We the political junkies are the exceptions, not the rule. WE follow this crap daily. We know all the latest news. Most dems cant even name one of the candidates let alone be aware that Kerry is losing staff members.

That gives time for Kerry to get his shit in line. He will have access to plenty of money (his own). He has the resume. He is tall and has a JFK aura about him (image is important)

So i havent thrown up the white flag just yet.

21. Kerry's organization
is in trouble. He should be doing better - much better.

I think his constant attacks on Dean are a big mistake. His NH advisors had bumper stickers made up that say, "Date Dean/Marry Kerry" which may be slightly droll - but is mostly juvenile. One of my friends attended the AARP debate in Concord earlier in the week, and she said people in the audience who WERE NOT Dean supporters were disgusted by all of the candidates attacking Dean at the debate.

It's been a huge mistake for the candidates to spend their time attacking each other. If only they would all remember who the real enemy is. The constant wrangling is putting people off - and getting them sick of the whole process already - and we are a year away from the election. This tactic could backfire on us - in a year where we are poised to make major gains on all electoral levels.
