Georgia's Election Results Reflect Fraud, U.S. Government Says

<snip>
Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Georgia's parliamentary election results reflect ``massive voter fraud'' and don't represent the will of the people, the U.S. State Department said.

The electoral commission in the former Soviet republic issued final results from the Nov. 2 election showing supporters of President Eduard Shevardnadze winning the poll. The opposition in Georgia has staged public demonstrations since the election demanding the poll be canceled because voting was rigged.

``We are deeply disappointed in these results and in Georgia's leadership,'' State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said in Washington. ``The results do not accurately reflect the will of the Georgian people, but instead reflect massive vote fraud'' in regions of the country.

The pro-Shevardnadze For a New Georgia party won 21 percent of the vote with the Revival party, a group that has supported the government, finishing second with 18 percent, the Associated Press cited Eka Melkadze, a spokeswoman for the Central Election Commission, as saying in the capital, Tbilisi. The results were announced as opposition supporters began traveling to the city for a protest rally planned for the weekend

3. Just like our entire country. Our georgia is calling us as well.
We won't have an election if it doesn't get repaired.

Democracy won't begin again until we change the system.
