McCain protests cuts in Phoenix Homeland Security funds

Sen. John McCain added his voice Friday to outcries against major cuts in federal Homeland Security funding for Arizona and the Phoenix metropolitan area.

McCain, R-Ariz., said he will meet with other members of the state's congressional delegation "and try to fix what is clearly a terrible imbalance in funding."

U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor, the senior of the state's two Democrats in the delegation, said he will do whatever he can to boost funding, in part because planning must begin now for premier sporting events to be held in the Valley in 2007 and 2008 . advertisement

Meanwhile, GOP Congressman Jeff Flake, who represents the southeast Valley, issued a statement pointing to the political spoils system as the likely reason for unfair distribution of anti-terrorism and public-safety money.

10. Well, they do have great shopping
in Scottsdale!! Seriously, Phoenix is a major metropolitan area. It isn't totally unlikely that it could be a target. There is also a huge nuclear power plant in southern Arizona.

Yeah that Bushie boy is doin' a hell of a job protecting us isn't he?

God, I hate him...in some ways, I hate him more than Bush, because at least Bush was predictably bad. McCain has this undeserved reputation as a straight talkin', humorous, popular politician...and many people - including some stupid independants and even liberals (even some Dems) don't see through his act...

I don't trust him one bit - anyone that will just ignore smears against family members for their political fortune is scum.
