Bush Meets More Activists in Sedgefield
SEDGEFIELD, England - President Bush (news - web sites) traded the pomp, pageantry and protests of London for Tony Blair (news - web sites)'s home here in tranquil northeast England on Friday — but was met by more activists demonstrating against his Iraq (news - web sites) policies.

<snip>

Bush and his wife, Laura, left Buckingham Palace, where they had stayed three nights, on a drizzly London morning. Escorted to the Lawn by Queen Elizabeth II (news - web sites) and Prince Philip to an awaiting helicopter, Bush thanked the prince for the hospitality.

Later, as Bush's entourage arrived in the area of Sedgefield, a small town of 5,000 in an old coal-mining region, several hundred protesters filled the town green with chants of "Bush out, Bush out," upside-down U.S. flags and posters labeling the president the world's "No. 1 terrorist." A couple hundred more bystanders lined the main street, which was blocked to traffic.

"I think this country's being led by Mr. Bush and I'm not happy about it," said Bill Williams, a retiree from Rippon. "The Americans really do believe that everyone loves them and they're doing good. Unfortunately it's not so."

5. You believe all those phoney polls?........
I'm sure 80 % of Americans can't stand the guy and the same
80% don't know it!!!

Why?.....Phoney polls!

This strategically calms the masses!!!

Unemployment figures?........Probably 4 times the number!

But what they don't know won't hurt them.....Karl Rove's Motto!!!

We need to take a real survey!!!

6. He's still defacing flags
The foursome then headed for the crowded Dun Cow Inn, a narrow pub on the main street with slate floors and wood beams where Bush was warmly greeted. Lunch was cream of leek and potato soup, followed by fish and chips with mushy peas and lemon creme brulee. for dessert.

Although Bush stopped drinking alcohol about 15 years ago, he reached across the bar to mischievously grab a tap handle — but chose non-alcoholic lager. He also signed a small American flag.

8. well you know they drive on the wrong side of the road
so she probably assumes they fly flags upside down.

Do they have four way stops in England? }(

10. Protesters dog Bush in small English town - a Canuk version

. . from

. .

. . most of the "gist" of the facts are the same

- but the following comments from the article grabbed me

"The Stop the War Coalition, which organized the main demonstration and several other smaller protests, claimed their efforts had forced Bush to restrict his movements around the British capital.

They concluded their show of force by knocking over a 17-foot paper-mache statue of Bush, mocking the toppling of Saddam Hussein statues by U.S. forces in Iraq.

"We occupied central London for the day and put George Bush under house arrest," said the march's chief steward, Chris Nineham. "He came to London hoping for a big welcome. Well, only two people welcomed him: Tony Blair and the queen."

and nope, that's not a typo on my part
- the newspaper didn't bother to Capitalize the Queen
- hmmmm

12. creme brulee? He's back on the sweets then ...
remember all that press about how Bush gave up desserts during the war?

Well, soldiers are still dying in Iraq, but Dubya's back on the sugar. (This dish is reportedly one of his faves.)

And to think that the media pilloried Clinton for being a glutton and a gourmand.
