CNN: At least 70,000 forces to hit Baghdad streets
Tuesday, June 13, 2006

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- At least 70,000 coalition forces -- most of them Iraqi -- will be deployed on the streets of Baghdad Wednesday morning in a massive effort to bring security to the Iraqi capital, according to the Iraqi prime minister's office.

The troops will include Iraqi police, police commandoes, soldiers and emergency police, as well as coalition forces, the office said.

They will enforce checkpoints on Baghdad's roads, as well as a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

The forces will wear new uniforms to distinguish them from insurgents who wear fake uniforms to carry out attacks.

Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has vowed to deploy Iraqi forces to end the spike in violence and sectarian strife in Baghdad in recent months....

29. That's the way to go. Get them to kill each other. Insurgents=Iraqis
these people will be killing their own people to serve the intersts of the invader. "Life's a bitch. And then you die."

4. and the insurgents don't expect crackdowns?
crackdowns like this are one thing insurgents are always ready for -- it's part of what one signs on for in a war like this.

no, this may slow things for a minute -- but it won't slow down the mayhem forever.

and yes -- innocent iraqis who have nothing to do with anything are goin to get on the dead end of things.

8. Yes, a crackdown is just what is needed to turn the few supportive
Iraqi peoples AGAINST US.

The BushBotBorg really does seemingly have the reverse Midas Touch.

... and the common sense of a box of rocks.

6. They forgot to further clarify....Most of the Iraqi forces will actually
be Iraqi. Not that Iraqis will be a majority of the force, just that most of the Iraqi troops will actually be Iraqi troops and not insurgents.

and the rising murder rate in Basra: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2334977

it's whack-a-mole, let's face it. Too much of the population is pissed off for this to be solved with US or UK forces still in the country =- and quite possible even if they leave.

17. 75,000 Forces to Be Deployed in Baghdad
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 10:54 AM by ECH1969
Under an ambitious plan to bolster security in Baghdad, some 75,000 Iraqi and multinational forces will be deployed in the capital beginning Wednesday, a top Iraqi police official said. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki promised to show "no mercy" to terrorists and said the security plan would include a curfew and ban on weapons.

Facing unrelenting violence following the death of terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi last week, al-Maliki said the crackdown in Baghdad "will provide security and confront the terrorism and ... enable Iraqis to live in peace in Baghdad."

"The raids during this plan will be very tough ... because there will be no mercy toward those who show no mercy to our people," he said in a news release distributed Tuesday.

More than 200 raids have been carried out since al-Zarqawi's death on Wednesday, some directly connected to what the U.S. military has described as a "treasure trove" of intelligence gleaned from his safehouse.

The new Skull & Boner Iraq State Fascist Storm Trooper Uniform du jour,
in Satan's peculiarly EVIL colors.

Note the trendy Codpiece. Accoding to fashion designer (and male republicon prostitute) Jeff Gannon, the codpiece was inspired by his beloved KoMMander-in-Chief, George AWOL Bush and his Mission Accomplished propaganda stunt three years ago.

same number there on a regular basis that includes Iraqis....no increase.....they can't control the city now...how is this going to change anything?

The answer is.....it won't...it's all just another staged event.
